If any of you are interested in a motion bypass option, I stopped by the office of Naviks and tested their current solution for the 2016 Pilot and it confirm that it works with the Ridgeline. I have access to the browser while driving and the bed audio always works while in motion. Only drawback to that is that it's either bed audio or cabin audio but not both at the same time. Now I can go terrorize the neighborhood with house, reggae and dance hall blasting from the bed (I kid).

Wow. With the bypass in place I can picture some dirty things. On the iphone, you can use voice recorder and make messages.

"Start using your turn signal you dickhead!"
"Thanks for cutting me off ass hole!"
"you suck at the driving"
"Start using your got damn turn signal!"
"Go back to your country for-ner!"

You can take it from there. I'd make 60 second versions repeating the line you want to use. If you are bluetoothed to the phone, and have in bed audio turned all the way up, you can play your voice recorder, self made messages, this way. Would be awesome. Especially one stating "Get off your got damn phone, quit swerving, and driving 10 MPH under the speed limit dickhead." My favorite would be some semi-automatic shotgun and AK firing sequences from my range visits. Someone drives like an ass and you play that voice recording of that at the stop light. Oh my I don't need this. Go to the haunted house this October and record the screaming. Fire up the movie Heat to the scene "Look at me. LOOK AT ME!" or "What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone cuz there is a dead man on the other end of this ****ing line!"

Just think of all the Tombstone quotes you could record of Doc Holiday. >:)

And, you can use the web browser to watch porn while driving down the road sipping on your bourbon like my local assistant fire marshal!

Dashcam shows former assistant fire marshal stopped for porn - KLTV.com - Tyler, Longview, Jacksonville |ETX News

Does the dead reckoning feature of the navigation system still work? It relies on pulse counts from the vehicle speed sensor to determine how far the vehicle has traveled if the GPS signal is lost, such as when driving through a tunnel.

Does the speed-sensitive volume still work? It relies on vehicle speed to raise the audio volume.

"Oh, zroger, that's just too ridiculous!" I thought to myself, "No one would ever believe that could actually happen."

Then, I saw the link.... :surprise:

If someone could figure out how to root the system, you could bypass motion and install Android apps. For free.

All kinds of paradoxical and hypocritical happenings seem to occur here in East Texas.

Not too long ago, that same local news station (KLTV) did a segment on the dangers of texting while driving. Hours after they posted the story to their Facebook page, a passenger in vehicle snapped a photo of a KLTV employee driving down the road...while texting.

A neighbor of mine was a Gregg County constable who served papers to people charged with DWI/DUI. He was arrested, charged, and found guilty of DWI. Astonishingly, he maintained his job, but had to use his personal vehicle or have his wife tote him around since he could no longer use a county vehicle.

A long-time, well-respected Longview police officer who was often involved with child safety events to prevent abduction and abuse was recently found guilty of child molestation.

There are more stories.

What does the installation entail? Do you have any photos or manual? Thanks.

Instead of spending $200 on hardware bypass, have you guys tried this software hack? The drawback is that you need to do this every time you start the engine, but I don't mind if it works coz you don't need to watch porn like that assistant fire marshal every night. LOL LOL.. I haven't tried it myself on G2 but I will do it on weekend see if YouTube works while driving :p I would love to bypass the in bed audio restriction too, it will be really cool if both bed audio or cabin audio can play at same time!!!! I think 2016 Accord and Pilot both use the similar touch screen as 2017 RL.

 Ever since that advent of scrolling LED signs decades back, I have thought one of those in the rear window could serve the same purpose...

Forgot to ask, with the bypass installed, can you utilize the rear view camera whenever you want? Would be advantageous for those towing.

The device is designed to plug into the factory harness. The only thing you need to splice is 12v. They are working on a completely plug-and-play version but it's been a pain sourcing the harnesses from Honda.

I haven't driven through a tunnel yet but I'll take notice next time I do. I haven't really noticed the speed-sensitive speed volume in the past. I can try testing with both the device on and then off to see if there is a difference. The module can be disabled by pressing the power window lock button 4 times.

Confirmed that the GPS keeps track of movement even while Waze was showing no GPS signal as I was driving underneath another roadway.

I never really noticed the speed-sensitive volume before since the cabin is so quiet so I cannot confirm if that is working. Most likely it is.

$200 is steep, but over the course of let's say 10 years is $20 a year.
Is the convenience worth $20 a year? Not to mention it might add to you resale value if you are selling the car to someone direct.
If not you could probably Ebay it to make some money back

To me it's worth $20 to be able to just use the GPS when needed.

DOES ANYONE have any install information on this. How hard is it to install, how much of the car do I need to rip apart?

BobVal

WOW - just received a link to the install manual from the company https://www.dropbox.com/s/iy9mvzuf96cxi93/HONDA RIDGELINE NVIM 2017.pdf?dl=0

NO Way I am going to rip a part my interior that much.
