Motorweek TV Pat Goss Local Radio Show

I had been intending to post this info for awhile it's been almost year now.
Pat Goss co host resident mechanic from PBS and other station Motor Week TV show has a streaming radio show. Pat has had his own shop for a longtime radio shows Washington Post articles and beside Motor Week TV has a local Washington DC show on Saturday mourning and used to have radio show for several hours after that. With the change in radio the show was cancel after many years but now it has been back on since March.
Pat has guess on from reps from companies like Michelin or Tire Rack, auto mechanics shop owners that deal with High Performance to Harley motorcycles
I have taken my Acura to his shop a few times it's not always practical for me to get there. My dealer has loaner cars he does not so if I cant wait it's not worth me going to his shop. But the show has been on for years in the DC area. Just do search for Goss Garage on TuneIn Radio show or just do search on Pat Goss you will find it. he has some shows going back to March 28th debut of new radio show.

I usually catch his short clips on Motorweek. Some very helpful hints. Once in a while he has some tips that seem a little off-center but on the whole very solid advice.

Locally, we have Ron Strong of R&R Automotive in Fresno. One of the older local garages around here with a great rep for service.
Ron broadcasts Sunday morning 7 to 9 am. On 580 AM KJM. Very good advice and a great deal of experience.

I have taken my 3.2TL to Pats shop about 6 times he did tires when I ordered them from Tire Rack same with my brakes rotors. Also had fluid changes & oil.
Cousin from Baltimore took his MDX there I met him and we had lunch while they worked on it. My neighbor was not satisfied with work done on his GM Suv but he was not happy with dealers work a few times either.
I took Pats 2night auto class back in 02-03 class had about 90 people in. It was a regular thing don't know if he still offers it.
I just listen to the May broadcast with the Ford VP of Marketing on the F-150.
His TV show here is 30min most of the guess are regular local guys like Harley motorcycle or guy Tony Fleming with Classic Cars & the guy that has American High Performance shop in Lorton VA area. They are putting out some powerful machines . But he sometimes has had people from Ford GM BMW Tire Rack ect.

Over many years of watching MW and seeing Pat's segment, I finally got to the point where I just fast forward through it. So much of the advice is dumbed down to the point of offending even Captain Obvious himself. Although I can't name any specific instances at the moment, I've seen him give several pieces of advice that are simply incorrect - as if he either didn't know what he was talking about and was making something up or he's not doing something the correct way. Overall, the man seems reasonably intelligent, but I get the feeling he's more of a businessman and salesman than a well-versed mechanic. Perhaps the writers of MW "make" him say some of those "off-center" things. I realize MW tries to be many things to many people, but the Goss' Garage segment is less helpful than Car Talk - and, that's not saying much. I'm sure Pat Goss is a fine man, but as an auto enthusiast with above-average mechanical skills I get virtually no value from his segment on MW.

I certainly don't mean to judge him personally based on MW. I can understand much of his 'explaining' gets chopped due to time constraints (and priorities of the mgt.no doubt).
In the last couple of years it has been worse with more emphasis on sponsors and guests than on unadulterated advice. You guys are lucky to get the 'better Goss' through other means.

Actually, I get a lot of great info watching Velocity. The mechanic Edd China on Wheeler Dealers is top notch and explains every procedure. Even if the info is vehicle specific much of his shop skills are top notch and can be universally applied.
Lots of good mechanics on that channel with bits of good knowledge you can extract from each.
Or on the occasion I need to get work done myself or just want info I call or visit a local mech. No walls, service writers, cashiers, or donuts separating me from the man with the wrench.
