I was in my car today and I noticed that my compass was not on the dashboard. I went to look at the big screen's navigation and the screen said Navigation down. Is that a common occurrence with nav, of did the satellite fall out of the sky

Uncommon, if not unheard of. There are dozens of GPS satellites orbiting Earth. It's either a glitch or failure within your vehicle.
