Need help with an oil leak

1329 Views 8 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  wa2be
My '06 Ridgeline has developed a new oil leak in the last couple days and I can't figure out where it's coming from. The oil is near the power steering reservoir, but the reservoir itself is completely dry, as are the hoses leading to/from the reservoir. The first pic shows the oil coming out from under the reservoir. It seems to be originating further back under the side engine mount. The second pic shows what it looked like after I cleaned all of the oil out and drove it 5 miles. Oil was starting to appear again from under the side engine mount. How can there be any oil in that area?

Looks like side motor mount, I just changed mine out today.

The motor mount has oil in it. Time to replace it.
I had no idea there was oil in the motor mount, but that totally makes sense given where I am seeing the oil. What all is involved with changing it and how much did the new mount cost?

Mine leaked exactly like yours.
Search motor mount replacement question, some instruction in this thread.
Thank you very much to both of you! I am ordering the part now and will do the replacement probably next weekend.
Good luck and please let us know how it goes. You might discover a better or easier way to do it. :)
Installed the new motor mount last night. Took about 2-1/2 hours to finish. Thanks again for the useful information and instructions in the referenced posts! Like you guys said, it's not overly complicated, just very tedious having to remove or relocate a ton of components to get access to the mount. Didn't have any problems though, just takes a lot of time.
