Can't really see a dealer disabling a safety device. Defective or not. Does this happen? Possibly. Would I allow or do it? NO

Sure they can. But then you can't sit behind the disabled airbag... which sorta nullifies the benefit. ;)

not 100% certain but I do believe it's against federal law for a dealer of any type (new car or used car) to disable a safety device such as an air bag, you may need to check further into this but I would not disable it.
