New Honda Care Prices

Effective Sept. 1st we can no longer sell a $0 ded Honda Care on a vehicle with over 6,000 miles on it. We also picked up more options.

7/120/$0---$1175
8/100/$0---$1155
8/120/$0---$1255

These will be available starting Sept 1st but the vehicle can not have over 6,000 miles as stated before. If it is over 6,000 miles then we have to go to a $100 ded. The max term there would be 6/102k/$100 at $1155

Thanks,
Chris

Chris,
Maybe you can field this question for many affected people here. Those of us who have purchased Honda Care warranties prior to this extension in power-train from Honda are curious as to whether we will be entitled to a partial reimbursement since part of what we were paying to extend is now free?

Please let us know what the policy is to deal with this issue.
Thanks!

BTW: Thanks for the updated warranty options and prices!!
Right now I have a 5/100. Anyway I can go to 7/120 or 5/120 or 6/120. No of these were offered when I purchased the original policy.
Thanks Chris, I will definitely be in touch.

Hi Chris,
Are you still offering Honda Care Warranties and if so, what are the current pricing? Please advise.

Thanks,
What is the current pricing Right Now!

And what is the difference if I purchased it from you and not the dealer where I will buy my Ridgeliner!!
New information on Honda Care warranty. I spoke to Darryl at Morristown Honda 423-581-0987, he's at the same dealership as christn. Nice guy. No pressure. If I got all this correct for my situation (06 Ridgeline 14927 Miles) he quoted the following:

5yr/84,000/$0 ded = $1235. I'm eligible to purchase this coverage up to 36,000 miles. The longer I wait to buy the more miles I add to the coverage.
Buy now-coverage ends at 99,000. Buy at 30K coverage ends at 114,000. In my mind that last 15,000 miles is the most vulnerable. I can probably expect to pay more for the warranty if I wait since there are typically nominal increases but I'll put 15,000 on this baby in 2007. Darryl even suggested I not buy it right now.

There is a new plan for 07 models with between 6,000 and 15,000 but I had no reason to inquire.

Does anyone have any new information on current pricing for this? I just purchased an 08 Ridgeline RTL and turned down the extended warranty at the dealership hoping that there would be an opportunity to get a better price through someone on this forum. Please advise.

Congratulations on your new RL.

That was a great decision to turn down the warranty at the dealer.

You get the best prices over the internet. They range from around $750 for 7yrs/80,000 miles to $1100 for 8yrs/100,000 miles.

Saccucci Honda and Bernardi Honda are the main dealers on the internet. Here is a link. However, you cannot be a resident of California or New York, where these are unavailable due to local laws.

P.S. Battery jumps and roadside assistance are both included in the honda care warranties.

Or you could just talk to your dealer and negotiate the price with them. You bought the truck from them, you will probably service it there, why not buy the warranty from them?

I understand you may save a few bucks buying on the internet but give your dealer a chance to offer you a reasonable deal on it. Tell them you have shopped it online but you want to buy it from them. I'm sure they will work with you.
I've negotiated with my local dealer 3X on the HC warranty. Twice they would not match, once they would match (Bernardi). For the RL they would not even come close, so Saccucci Honda got my money this time. We'll be keeping the RL as a 'family utility' for a long time, so its worth it to me.
With the economy like it is I may be keeping the '08's RL/Accord much longer than normal. Since the RL is my daily driver and trip vehicle and the Accord is the wife's errand vehicle, we probably will not do much over 10K miles per year on each. I may look at the 7 year/80K mile deal for each. Combined with online prices is about the same as insuring one at the local dealership!!
If you are looking for an on-line HC warranty, both Bernardi and Saccucci have the same price. In the past, I've given Bernardi my business, however, it is Saccucci that currently has the injunction in place to extend dealers ability to sell on-line (this was supposed to stop as of April of this year). Since it is Saccucci that is fighting this one in court, allowing us to continue to purchase these HC plans at reasonable on-line rates, I'd say give your business to them. ;)

Notice

On March 28th, 2008 Saccucci Honda won an injunction against Honda's Internet Service Contract Guidelines. These guidelines would have prevented customers from purchasing Honda Care over the internet.

A second injunction hearing is currently taking place in RI Federal court. Any warranty purchased from us during this trial will not be affected by any ruling.

They have the same price because they are both selling them at dealer cost. Why, I have no idea.

It's a good deal for the people buying one, it's bad for every other Honda dealer in the country. That is why Honda is working on stopping it.

If you are planning on buying one online I recommend you do it very soon.

I'm sure they are making a profit on their warranty sales; it's just not at the same ridiculous margins the dealers are getting for the identical warranty. I bought the 96mo/100k $0 deduct warranty from Bernardi 2 months ago. As I recall, there was an indication that their profit on the sale was right around $130.

The prices they are listing them for are dead on dealer cost. Straight out of the dealer cost book.

They may get a "kick back" once they sell a certain amount. Honda does offer an incentive for selling a certain number of warranties. At the prices they are selling them for I imagine they sell enough to qualify for the incentive, which is not that much.

I do agree some dealers mark them up way to much. That is why I recommended negotiating the price.

Much? Heh.

My local dealer wanted over $2000 for the 8/120, which is $1,195 at Bernardi or Saccucci. Lowest the local dealer would come down to was $1,350.
Thanks for the advice. I'm going to contact the local dealer and see what they're willing to do. I agree that I should at least give them a shot at competing.
I talked with my dealer this past Wednesday. Asked about the 7yr, 80K mile plan. They showed me the cost at $725 same as low dollar internet pricing. They would only do $200 over cost or $925. Guess I will go the internet route if I decide to get the warranty!!
Never really understand when I show the finance guy the Bernardi or Saccucci site while we are sitting in his office (as 'proof' of my quote) and he says "Best we can do is $140 over that, will that work?".

No.

Why would I pay you an extra $140? Supporting the 'local guy', uh, no.

That's $140 more gas. Or half of a dinner at Mortons for the wife and I (yum).

I suppose if you need to roll the warranty into your financing, that might be a valid reason, but I always budget that into my downpayment if I'm not buying it outright.
