New (to me) 2012, first time truck owner

Hey all, I bought my 2012 RTL a few weeks ago. I stalked around the internet looking for solid deals and finally found this one almost three hours away in Youngstown, OH and only ended up paying $11,500 with tax, tag, title etc. It's high mileage (198.5k when I bought it) but runs really well and only had one previous owner. It's clear by looking at the scuffs in the bed and some of the wear to the interior that it was a work truck, but on the whole it's in pretty decent shape. So far I've done some basic preventative maintenance just because I don't know what all the previous owner had and hadn't done. Carfax just showed the rear differential was replaced around the 160k mark, so I'm getting ready to have the timing belt & water pump replaced just in case, and the valves adjusted because there's a slight chattering noise under acceleration.

Looking forward to learning a lot and hopefully being able to share some solid knowledge of my own eventually.

Congrats on your RL and welcome to the ROC!

Sounds like you are on the right track with your preventative maintenance. With that many miles I'd go ahead and replace the water pump and radiator while having the timing held services. There is a corrosion issue with a washer where the transmission cooler lines enter/exit the radiator, it seems to be more of an issue with older models, failure can lead to mixing of the coolant and transmission fluid...not good. I'd go ahead and replace the radiator anyway since they are not that expensive.
Congrats on your, "New to you G1"

Welcome to the ROC.

Good Luck and Enjoy the Ride!

I'm with Heli, Radiator, Water Pump, Tensioner & I'd add Spark Plugs.
Holy smokes! That looks big time sweeeet!! Haven't seen that color in a while. Glad you joined in on the fun.
Welcome.
That's a lot of miles...

Thanks for the welcome, I'll check out the radiator. I'm having the tensioner & water pump done when we do the belt. I did the spark plugs the weekend after I bought it. Those three in the back were an adventure, but not as bad as I had thought it could be.

Thanks! So many of the G1s that I've seen available are in silver, which didn't appeal to me. I hadn't seen any others in this shade of blue and it really appealed to me.

Welcome.

Just rolled over 200k yesterday, but she runs really well so I'm not too concerned. Hopefully she's like my dad's '96 Accord, which is about to roll over 400k.
Welcome and don't be concerned about a lot of miles if it received "proper" maintenance before you purchased it. Mine is getting ready to turn 240,000 miles and it's maintenance file is very thick but hardly anything in the way of failures, well nothing really.
Congrats on your purchase & Welcome to the ROC!
