I added a 400lb (working load) rachet strap to the equation. . .to the side that does not have a cable (swinging action). I supported the strap with the door latch and rear 350 lb capacity tie down cleat to spread the load. 5/16" / 8mm locking link for the tailgate lock.

It releases by lifting the tailgate latch.

Plus, Loading it on an angle with plywood and a steel plate, will spread the load over the luggage lid and tailgate.

I ordered 2 folding aluminum ramps to walk it up.

yes, I got the idea from other inmates that made cables and chain Supports. I prefer the adjustable rachet strap.
