Reading text messages?

Can you set up reading text messages via Bluetooth on a RTL-T with an iPhone or can this be accomplished only through apple play? When my phone is connected via Bluetooth I am not able to tell that I have received a text message.

Thanks

I run with my phone plugged-in utilizing Android Auto whenever I'm in the car... I like the Google Maps interface more than the OEM Nav, but I digress...

I get true "text messages" depending on who is sending them... no rhyme or reason if it's from an iPhone or Android.

I get Facebook Messenger messages 100% of the time.

I get WhatsApp? messages 100% of the time.

The % of this analysis that makes sense to me .... ZERO!

I wish I had a solution, but I don't.

Oh... I am using a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, for reference.

The answer you are looking for is, yes. Go to the phone settings option and enable the TEXT function. You are not required to use Car-play or Android Auto.

Yeah my phone/truck started doing this as soon as it was paired. No cable or special apps needed.

I will say, though. I didn't work for me on my personal iPhone. But it did on a company Android. I didn't look into it, but I got a message that said my phone is incompatible. Just a heads up... there seems to be some requirement of the phone. So I just settled with Car-Play. Good luck.

You also may have to go into the bluetooth settings on your phone, select the blue circled i to the right of the device and set 'Show Notifications'.

Tried again with the suggestions above. I deleted the unused Bluetooth links and checked all the settings on my phone as well as on the RL. It is now working fine.
Thanks for all the help!

I get text message notifications, but the READ button does nothing when I tap it. I have a Galaxy Note 9.
