How do you set the rear temp & fan settings differently than the front? I know the rear will match the front using the sync function. I can see the rear settings on the front control panel but that's it. The owner's manual talks about a rear climate control panel but my BE doesn't have one. What am I missing?

There is a "rear" or "RR" setting on the climate control (to the right of "auto") that you push to control the rear fan and rear temperature setting. There is also a rear on/off button you can push

You set the temperature for the rear with the driver's-side temperature flip-up, flip-down switch. You can only do that when you're effectively in the rear seat climate mode, meaning that you've pressed the RR button. If I remember correctly, it's time that gets you out of that mode. So, so many seconds without activity, probably 15 seconds. Then the driver's-side temperature adjustment will apply to the driver again.

By the way, it's possible that the passenger-side temperature control works for this purpose too. I've just never tried that. It should do it if it doesn't.

I think with the Canadian version you just have to think of a temperature and the car automatically does it.

I find these small variations between US and Canadian models really fascinating. Honda would only have done this if they thought that these were essential to Canadian buyers. You really have to wonder, for example, why rear climate controls are essential to Canadian buyers, but not to US buyers. Intriguing.

Thanks to all! Got it figured out & yes, the differences b/t the U.S & Canadian versions are perplexing. I'd love to have the cooled seats & ability to control the rear tempo from the rear.

This time of year, it's the ventilated front seats that are proving to be very helpful on my Canadian model BE.

But you can have my CD player. What a waste of space.

I considered buying a rear climate panel with the hopes the wiring harness for it was already there, but even if it was the programming in front control head might not recognize it. The front control head is different (has a RR LOCK button where the blank plate is) for vehicles with rear climate controls. There are two versions of the rear control head for the Pilot - one with rear heated seat controls and one without. I was going to try the one without. I probably won't even attempt it, though, since I never have rear passengers.

As an aside, but somewhat related topic, the rear vents must have their own blower - the speed can be changed independent of the front. I can't find the rear blower on the parts breakdown, though. It must be part of something else and not available by itself.

We Canadians need our heated seats all around and AWD. Package those two together, and the trim level sells like hot cakes.

I'd *much* rather have ventilated seats than heated seats. Had ventilated on my Kia Optima, and was fabulous... I never used the heated function.

Move up north a little and you would want heated seats like your afternoon Temp was 80 degrees feeling like 85.
Washington, DC was 94 degrees but feeling like 100 . Winter Temps are going to be more often times colder in early morning or late evening. I had 94 Accord new at time for 6yrs ownership. At time when I got it was working evening shift not getting off until 10-11PM. The car heated better than 1990 Accord that I had being a newer redesigned model but 90 had cloth 94 had leather. But the initial getting into the car at night making the 30min trip home was chilly sometime. Now when I got my 00 Acura TL with leather heated seats a world of difference. I can compensate for the hot leather with A/C and using a heat shield sun shade when vehicle is parked. With tinted windows even better. I had loaner 2017 RDX Black/Black with perforated seats non ventilated when it was hot back in June. A/C was fine in this vehicle seats were comfortable and interior cooled good enough. If it had the sunshield and front door tint it would have been better. This is the same color combo on the Black Edition Ridgeline that I will get whenever.
Might be a nice feature having ventilated seats but I could work around them with remote start to cool interior down before entering.

If that's correct, does the Sport trim come with the same rear control interface as the Canadian Pilot LX and EX trims as well as the US Pilot's that don't have second-row captain's chairs (see Honda Pilot photo below)? Also, does the Canadian Ridgelines with rear heated seats only heat the outboard seating positions or does it also heat the middle passanger position? If the latter, how does one control the temperature for the center position?

Good questions but wouldn't that middle seating position just be considered the same as the other outboard seat. When you flip that side up it's all one seat. I wondered about this also nice features they get.
