Remote start not working?

7426 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  ST1300Rider
I have it failed to work only a couple times but this morning I can't figure out why it didn't fire up. The truck was locking fine, thought maybe window wipers or headlights were on and it maybe didn't like that, nope not it. My front end is parked close to an object and that's the only thing I can think of.

I use it quite regularly and it's odd. Anyone figure out and tricks?

The only time mine has failed to start is when I let off the 'unlock' button before the exterior lights flash.
I am having problems with mine also. I can not get it to extend the time from 10 minutes to 20 minutes. I have done exactly like the book says, but the engine still shuts down after 10 minutes. I also have a problem with the remote not working at all after the second time I start the engine. The only way to get the remote to work again is to actually get in the truck and start the engine. then the next time I use the remote it work but again only twice. I am going Friday to the dealer to see what can be done.
My understanding is that there are two independent 10min timers for the remote start. If you do them at the same time, it doesnt give you 20min. It gives you 10min from the second remote press. It also only allows two remote presses maximum in between actually driving, or maybe just getting inside, the truck.

A way to test yours: activate remote start once. Wait 5 mins. Activate 2nd remote start. Wait and see if truck shuts off in 5mins, 10mins, or 15mins. My understanding is that it should shutoff 10 mins after the second remote press.

I might be completely wrong. .......

Did you mean the "lock" button? Am I right thinking it's a press of the 'lock' button and then the "hold" button?
Thank you for the information. I tried the remote like you said and it does work, but you have to wait at least 6 minutes after the first start, or it will shut off in 10 minutes after the first start. Also, the only way to be able to use the remote again after two uses, you have to actually start the engine. Opening the door doesn't work. You just saved me a trip to the dealer. Thanks. Louie

You are correct, I did mean the "Hold" button, not the "Lock" button. Sorry.
