Reset Engine Oil Life Indicator

10781 Views 4 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  silkiechicken
My local dealer changed the engine oil and didn't reset the Oil Life Indicator on the instrument panel. Now I'm getting a warning that engine oil life is low. I had the oil changed at 5000 miles and now have 7300 miles on the vehicle. Does anyone know how to reset the engine oil life and save me a trip back to the dealer?

To reset the 2017 Honda Ridgeline engine oil life after an oil change service, please follow these instructions:

1. Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine).

2. Using the UP or DOWN arrows on the right side of the steering wheel, select the VEHICLE menu.

3. From the VEHICLE menu select MAINTENANCE INFO.

4. From the MAINTENANCE INFO menu select MAINTENANCE RESET.

5. Press and hold the RESET button to display the oil life.

6. Select RESET with the UP or DOWN arrows then push the RESET button.

7. The displayed maintenance disappears and the oil life returns to 100%.

8. Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.

From another thread with the same question asked.
Did your RL not come with an owners manual?
You received 2 responses from owners who have color displays. My RT-L does not and their answer does not work for me. Did it for You?
I downloaded the owners manual when I got my RTL and on page 510 of the version I have the following, however have not tried it myself yet:
