Hi everyone I’m new here and hope I’m asking this in the right place. I have a 07 Ridgeline and the engine is dead block issues. I have a 09 Accord 3.5 with VCM. Is it possible to use this engine in the Ridgeline? Any help with be much appreciated.
Physically it might match up but the G1 Ridgelines never had VCM. So, the computer match won't be quite right. Maybe you can use the short block from the donor car and transfer over the heads and intake from the original motor. What exactly happened with the original motor?
It spin the rod bearing for a one rod and then lock the motor. This was do to a misfire and oil getting into the spark plug. I had my mechanic fix the issue and he gave it a valve adjustment because it was very loud and now that the engine was performing as it should be you could hear the rod knock and well it did not last long from there. I had just got this off a private party and well it was not a good buy but now I’m just trying to get it going and already have a accord with a VCM 3.5 car so that’s y I ask if I could use o e car to make another one work. I like what you put down about swapping the blocks I just have to make sure there the same.
I honestly don't know about using that Accord engine in the Ridge. VCM is enough to turn me off. But if you could find a nice 3.7, that would probably work fine and give you a nice performance boost too.
I don't know if the differences between a 2007 and a 2009 would affect anything, but here are some posts on the subject.
I’ve had my Ridgeline for about 6 months now and I’m looking for some performance upgrades. My primary vehicle is a Colorado with a V8 5.3L, so a big difference in the HP. I like my Ridgeline much better but wanna boost the HP. I’m not talking about things that you can buy at an auto parts...

So, thanks to Dope's thread about his awesome swap, I'm trying to figure out what it'll take for those of us with the earlier Gen. 1 models to accomplish a similar feat. I just want to throw a few thoughts out and let everybody throw their 2 cents in and tell me if I'm way off base. First off...
Here is my current progress. Going to use the stock intake mani spacer to keep the torque curve low. Already have KTuner and Bisimoto is gonna take care of the actual tuning. 305hp on tap will be a HUGE improvement.
I put a J35Z4 pilot motor on a Ridgeline J35Z5 ... and everything is fine, but it does not activate VTEC ... does anyone know why this can happen? Thank you ... it's urgent ... my whatsapp is +56957623955
