Running Rough after Rock Hit

Hello all, first post on here so would appreciate the help. I have a 2G 2017 and I was off-roading last weekend, nothing too crazy but straddled a rock that was taller than I thought and it dinged pretty loud going about 25. It then started running loud only when taking off or accelerating more aggressively. I looked underneath and saw the flex pipe towards the front of the truck had a pretty big hit taken out of it so I got that piece of the pipe cut out and replaced but I'm still having the issue. Any ideas?

It doesn't make noise in park, neutral, or reverse. It kinda surges with fluctuating RPM when accelerating and if I come to a stop at a light it vibrates pretty hard and loud when stopped in drive but goes away if thrown into neutral. I know that whole pipe piece is 900+ so not looking to replace that. I'm going to take it to another muffler shop to get a second opinion on it but I'm worried it might be more than the pipe. Thoughts? Thank you.

Did something break off, and it’s still bouncing around inside?
Not sure what you mean by loud. Is it an exhaust leak sound or a metal to metal vibrating sound? At any rate, I’d get it up on a lift and thoroughly inspect for damage. If you’re not getting a CEL then the O2 sensors are probably ok but certainly check them for damage. Metal to metal sound probably means you bent the exhaust system and its touching the chassis. As for surging, that sounds like a transmission issue. Did you get a transmission temperature warning while on your adventure?
Get an ODBC scanner, Blue Driver is a good one, or have Autozone do a free scan, until that happens you are in the dark. You broke something.

I'd get it on a lift and look for impact scars. More comprehensively that a muffler shop will do, that is.

I don't think so, seems more like a loud noise rather than a rattle one.

No transmission warnings, but I think you are probably spot on with the pipe being bent, but gunna try to get it on a lift to today and find out.

haha, i think i was in a similar scenario.
For me, a rock bent the chassis stiffener piece up.
When the engine is underload, it moves a bit and the transfer case hits the stiffener.

Replaced the stiffener fixed it for me.

Thats a really good point, did your sometimes vibrate quite a bit just sitting at a light in drive?

THIS WAS IT! Got it up on some jacks and took it off and bent it back, good as new. Thanks.

Man, you knocked it out of the park with this keyboard diagnosis! This has got to be the best first post I've seen. Awesome job, thanks for taking the time to contribute!
