I had the opportunity to drive a 2005 S2000 the other day. It was a blast. Snick... snick through the gears. 8000 rpm redline. But I was a bit surprised to find at 70 mph, it ran at 3500 rpm. And it was a bit noisy inside.. maybe because it had 152k on the clock... or more likely because of the ragtop.

Then, a few days later, I drove a 2005 RSX Type S. Snick-snick again through the gears... just like the S2k. 8000 rpm redline... just like the S2k. 70 mph - 3500 rpm... just like the S2k.

Unfortunately, the RSX was lowered, which I do NOT like. It scrubbed tires on curves and at the slightest bump in the road. But man, I liked the way it drove.

I was amazed at the similarity between the 2 vehicles. If I was blindfolded and put in each one, I don't know if I could have told them apart from the slick 6-speed, to the engine power, to the rpm at similar speeds... maybe even include handling... except I couldn't really get a feel for the RSX with all that tire rubbing.

The RSX seems more practical having a backseat, small as it is. So I'm kinda looking for a 2005-2006 RSX Type S these days. My son (rising junior in HS) has had that on his dream list for a while.

He's been learning to drive a manual tranny in the old beater civic I bought. Driving the RSX was like night and day with how smoothly the clutch operated and how nice it was to drive.

If I find a good one, maybe I'll keep the RSX and let him have the Civic. >:)
