2K? IDK about that.

Insurance adjuster did the eval.
I just had the rear bumber replaced:
1. New bumper
2. All new black plastic trimmings/lic lights etc, all around the bumper for a 09'
3. New OEM taillight.
4. New cat back exhaust
5. New Trailer hitch and wiring plug
6. 2 New rear mud flaps
7. Paint and labor

Total: $2,277.07 and when I picked it up from the body shop, they said they were able to do the repairs for that.

So that front bumper is way way way less for sure.

I don't know about in the USA but here in Canada. If you call your insurance and ask any kind of question about fixing your vehicle and they now know it was in a accident.Whether you go thru the insurance or you pay for it your self you now have an accident on your record.

I still do not know how insurance companies get away with this logic of thinking. My daughter, while on my policy, had an accident. She was sitting at a red traffic light when another vehicle ran into the back of her.

Now I will fast forward one year. My daughter began shopping for own car insurance policy. They asked her about any accidents in the last three years and she told them about this no fault incident. As a result of her answer, her premiums were considerably higher than my other daughter's, who is a year younger, premium. Same insurance company and similar cars. When questioned, the company said accident involvement.

Just does not seem right. This was about 6 years ago. Perhaps things have now changed (for the positive) in the auto insurance industry.

Same here in the US. I was rear-ended by another so no foul on me.
The main point I was making was the price of repairs.

However, I did take it to a few shops before the adjuster arrived to get a better idea of repairs/time.
Two body shops stopped doing their estimate and ran back inside when I told them that a adjuster was coming to look at it. They looked at me like I was trying to entrap them or something as I got dirty looks right away.
The third shop was $600 more than the adjusters estimate and they didn't catch the tail light or list the trailer hitch. I didn't tell this shop that the adjuster was coming.

I think body shops know that people want to do repairs w/o the insurance company knowing and take advantage of that.

I will say this though, the adjuster knew about the one estimate that was done the day before and he even stated the name of the shop.
He drove from out of state to come to my home, so it wasn't like 'word of mouth' that he found out.
This let me know that insurance companys know more than you think ;)

Edit: The body shop that did the estimate was a small town 'mom & pop' shop.
They had a 10x15 office with a cash register & a computer, built on the side of a 2 door pole barn shop.
Only 2 employees, they do great work, but have a long waiting time to get in.
In other words, this wasn't a major/large/dealer repair shop and the last place you would think of that would do any type of reporting, but I guess the software used to look up parts; repair time and print estimates could all be connected.
