Much needed advice on Snow cables for my RTL-T AWD. Any type or brand better than the others?

See Owner's Manual, p. 539. Honda recommends SSC Super Z LT-ZT735 cable "chains" installed on front tires only. This is an ultra low clearance cable for the RL's tight wheel wells. The specified cable is sized for the RL's stock tire. If you switch to a larger tire, you may need larger cables or you may find that there's not enough clearance to use any snow cables.

Thanks DogOnBoard, I probably should read that one day. I still have the stock 245/60-18 tires. So it looks like a 60$ on eBay will do it.
Thanks @DogOnBoard. I wouldn't have expected to see a specific product recommendation in an owner's manual so I didn't even look. I upgraded to 255/60-18 tires so I went with these by the same manufacturer: Snow Chains for Tires, Best Tire Chains, Truck Tire Chains

That looks like the way to go for your larger tires. I may be in the same boat when/if I get this truck, because I would want to slightly upsize the tires IF I can still fit snow cables on them. Please let us know how these work out, especially if you notice any cable-rubbing on the wheel wells, front struts, etc. Thanks!
Personally, I'd shoot for same diameter winter tire. Then you always have a full-size spare (or three!) on hand.

Probably a good decision for those who live in snow during the winter. We're in So Cal and will only see snow on occasional ski trips.
I am expecting delivery any day on a set of the Honda recommended cables by SCC. I am paying a little more than $60 from a retailer in Idaho. Hoping for the best as I have a steep paved approach to my home and will need max traction 6-8 times a year in the mountains of NC.

I just bought a 2G Ridgeline yesterday, and I'm looking to get it snow ready within a week for a ski trip. I've noticed that the manual points me towards a suggested model that is for "S" class clearance vehicles. I'm having trouble finding good information on what that really means in terms of the chain size. The recommended chain is a cable type model, and while I am aware of how unlikely I am to use them, I really haven't had much luck with the durability of cables. I am much more partial to and trusting of chains like the Thule (Konig) XG-12 PRO 250. Are these really going to have clearance issues, or is Honda just being overly cautious with its recommendation? I'll get the cables if that is they only safe option for the vehicle, but its a little weird that there would be such poor clearance.

You may have to be the first person on the forum to test this issue -- if you can buy chains from a retailer who will let you return them after checking the fit. S clearance vehicles are increasingly common as manufacturers shrink wheel wells to reduce drag and improve fuel efficiency. Many of these vehicles simply do not have the clearance for a real tire chain. I've looked at the G2 RL wheel wells and they are tight. Upsizing the tires may even rule out snow cables. You might try contacting SCC directly to ask if they have tried to fit one of their combo chain/cable traction aids on the new Ridgeline. Good luck!
