Soft Tonneau Cover - Trunk opening??

5214 Views 11 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  NELFLOW
Hi, relatively new to this forum. I have a 2012 RTL Bali Blue, and love this truck! I'm in the market for a soft tonneau cover (preferably a tri-fold model), and have been looking over a lot of threads within the forum on everyone's experience's. However I was but noticing that a lot of the posts are several years old. Anyone have any recent experiences? I've read good things about the Torza Top, but are there other good ones out there that anyone's purchased? TonnoPro? Rugged Premium?

Also wanted to know if there was one that works better with the trunk door...I'm realizing that most if not all will come with rails that will need to be installed which will limit the opening in someway...I'm specifically concerned when the top isn't on.

Any comments are very much appreciated!

Thanks.

Welcome! Do some searches as I believe only one soft tonneau has cutout rails for the trunk so it opens more fully (but not completely). The factory hard tonneau supposedly allows full opening of the trunk.
Thanks! I actually kept researching on this forum and found that the Torza is the one that has the cutout in the rails to allow for a wider opening. But then again didn't really see a whole lot of other reviews talking about the trunk opening.

Now to find the right site to order it from...
That's looks pretty good from here.
Thanks guys, I went with the TorzaTop, and it looks good...here's what it looks like before we got a little snow...

That's a nice looking cover SKI!

I too have been considering the Torza soft top for my recently acquired RL, and I too was concerned with the trunk opening. Most have said that the limitations are not unreasonable so that is good to hear.

How have you been liking the Torza top so far? What do you think about the trunk access?

And, if you don't mind my asking, where did you order it from and how much did you pay? I've seen it on many different sites all around the same price of $469.99 for the vinyl top. Obviously, I would like to pay the least amount possible...I haven't been able to bring myself to shell out almost 5 bills for a top so far...

I have found one website that is offering this top for $439.49, and currently offering an additional $50 off promo code (tonneaucovers4lessDOTcom), but the site does not look as professional as most others, giving me pause to place an expensive order with them.

Thanks
I have an Extang tri-fold. Easy to install and looks good, too. Very stable. As for the restriction on the opening, it does not allow for full opening of the in-bed trunk, but nothing I have ever put in it has been a problem either getting it in or out. Plus it's the more economical option.

Yeah, Extang is my second choice. Both the Torza and Extang seem to be quality covers, but the Torza does have the notched rails providing slightly more truck opening. Comparing prices on both of these tops they were usually within $15-20 of eachother, from what I could find, so not that much more economical. But if you know where to get an Extang for significantly less please let me know!

That said, I do like the Torza, and the website I mentioned has the best deal on them right now, and it's not even close.

Once again, does anyone know anything about tonneaucovers4less? If I know I can trust them I might be ordering a cover tomorrow. If not, I will keep waiting, I just do not want to spend $470+

You might just check with the mfg directly to verify they are an authorized dealer w/no current issues??

Good thinking! Checking Advantage's website they do not list that site as one of their online dealers, but I will email them to make sure, or see if they have any information either way so I can pass it along.

Thanks for the suggestion!
