Solid 22.2 MPG

Yesterday I drove 105 miles from RI through Mass to NH. Drove back home 105 miles last night. 200 miles of this trip was on rt. 95 traveling at an approx 72 mph average. 10 miles was mixed secondary roads with some traffic lights and light traffic. I filled up with Shell 89 before the trip and reordered 22.2 mpg.

I was very happy with that milage. 3 people in the truck, a heavy cooler and some other stuff. 2010 RTL

Awesome.

I meant to start a thread this week about my experience, but the photos of the trip meter were no good. So no "proof".

Drove 217 miles 1 way - tonneau cover on, avg 55 - 65MPH, mostly 4 lane hwy. Got 21.9mpg.
Picked up a Pepsi cooler/fridge, layed it down on it's back and drove home. Got 22.3mpg on the way back! Don't ask.. I don't understand why. Fridge must have been really aerodynamic!

Running on super, oversized tires and 2" lift. Manual calculation confirmed the trip meter was spot on. (With the new tires, the speedo is actually almost perfect now).

Filled up with regular, back to old routine - 60% hwy, 40% mix city and country roads = 19mpg. Will try premium again :)
I think with the large tires, it makes a big difference.

I already get right at 20mpg with regular unleaded and have been considering doing 89 to see how it works out, the price difference here is maybe 10 cents. I'll do this on my next tank and see, right now I get just over 400 miles on a tank.
Wow!

I get 17 if I'm lucky. That is almost all highway, but at 80mph usually.

Going 80 in a RL isn't a recipe for 20 plus mpg.

I'm trying to understand how this works. Oversized tires typically make the speedo read low and FE to decrease resulting in lower mpgs. Also, perceived power should be adversely affected with oversized tires (effectively lowers the final drive ratio).

So how did you determine the oversized tires make the speedo read right?

Ricer metric math.
And in canada the gallon is bigger too!!
Two recent trips to my sister in Va. Beach from N.E. Pa. , 375 miles one way. First trip showed 24.3 mpg , second trip last week showed 26.2 mpg to Va. Beach , only 22 mpg back to Pa. Came back home last Sunday when the hurricane was off the coast, about half the trip was windy as hell. I'm sure that killed the mileage. First trip used the AC , second trip no AC. Never really got mileage numbers like that before, driving back down this coming week, we'll see how it performs.
Recent trip to Va Beach myself, interstate 64. Truck has 90000 miles on it, and had just slowed down to 60mph.... My average over the last 90000 is right around 19.5

Just replaced my old 06 RTL with an 06 RTS. The old truck had aggressive cooper discover tires in it and I was lucky to get 18mpg on average. The new old truck has Walmart specials that are more like and SUV tire and I have averaged 22 on the last two fill ups. Although in heavy rain the other day those same Walmart tires were sorta squirrelly. Dextro is the brand. They came with the tuck.
You guys have more patience than me, apparently. I normally drive 75mph + on the interstate. Probably the reason I'm getting 16.5 mpg right now. Uggggh. :(
During winter months, usually more around 18 MPG. Average 20-21 much of the time. Longer runs, slightly better.
