Stop Light Cowboys

Denver G2 owner here. There is no real purpose to this post other than to rant about the dumbass ******** that, for some reason, want to lay down the hammer and race me at every damn stoplight (well, not every one, but plenty). Before I start, please no speed police; I obey the limits plus or minus 10 MPH. This evening I had a Chevy 2500 with the Duramax look over, stick his tongue out and mouth something akin to "nice truck". Long and short, I freakin hammered it, and flat out dusted him. He followed me for about two miles, probably looking for another chance to "redeem" himself.

Questions may arise, such as, "why would you care if he's faster", or "please obey the speed limits".

If you've ever had a bad day and have the chance to waste a 3/4 ton *******, I recommend it, if for nothing else than stress relief.

The G2 is plenty damn quick. End of rant.

Sounds like you were racing him.
From this *******.
I would absolutely love to race my truck against my little truck.

I know what my stuff can do without flexing my muscles. My diesel is NOT stock and is stupid quick for an 8500 pound truck.

From a dead stop I would give it to the Ridgeline.

I don't condone any kind of street racing EVAR. :)

OP, without being there, It's hard to say what the real deal is.
I've done a lot of red light racing over the years. Mostly with my company cars against those who decide that the converging roads at certain places across Western Pa is a good place to see who is faster. The only time I've really ever lost was against a Jag when I raced him with our 84 Trans am (not a real speed demon those 305's). Every other time you will win because they aren't expecting you to rocket out of the light in a sleeper sedan. The same would hold true with the RL just due to it's sleeper nature. A couple times I've raced someone with our different Jeeps we've owned and I always put it in 4wd for the drag just because wheel spin is unwanted. Again, even with the 4.0 6cyl I never lost. Traction is king and surprise of it all. I wouldn't expect any diesel anything to give me a race in the RL with AWD at some of my favorite red lights. Again, with the RL being stealth as a racer at 6.6 sec 0-60 not much has a chance. I recently rented the 17' Camaro SS convertible from Hertz in Florida. It is not a stealth car and NO one dared it at any red light. And if they did they'd have no chance with it's 500hp motor and 0-60 time of 3.5 sec (or so). It just rockets out of the light.

Of course this all is IMO

Steve M - red light racer to 60mph only when legitimate and safe

Its specially fun when someone thinks just because they have an exhaust that they have a race car, I had trucks that made so much noise floor it and a light, the next light I put my leg in and their noise maker stays way behind.

Fixed and I would say both.
Remember, lights timed for 35mph are also timed for 70mph ;)

Yeah, I've lost quite a few races from the stop lights to lifted diesel trucks. Then again, I didn't know we were supposed to be racing; I'm just headed to work or a store.
I think it's a testosterone thing....

"Stoplight Cowboys" LOL.

Made me think of this bicycle I saw on campus last week, I had to stop and get a photo.

Guess the guy's coal-rolling diesel pick-up truck is in the shop and he had to transfer his proclamation of manhood to his other ride. :)

... small penis syndrome. Nuff said.
Oddly enough I was happy to move from my Evo-X to the RL so that I specifically would STOP speeding. The RL is so quiet and comfortable and relaxed I don't feel the desire to hammer it. Coming from a ~375HP flappy paddle rally car that was harsh and loud I'm just enjoying the mobile living room with attached shed listening to sports radio. If I speed I'll have to get out of my new ride sooner, who wants that? :)

Try riding sportbikes. My bikes will do 90mph in first gear. A holes in every car or truck imaginable rev at you, at a light. I just ignore them. The worst thing you can do is feed them trolls. If you do, you are wasting gas and money on strangers, which is really f'in stupid if you think about it. Letting strangers spend your money. Then you are risking getting busted by LEO.

Ditto, the bike comment.

My adventure bike (KTM) is quicker than just about any other vehicle on the road... Just doesn't look like it. :)

P.S. The Ridgeline would have to have 1370hp to equal the hp/kg of my bike. :D

I live in Texas where there are many Cowboys and ********, all do not drive that way, in fact I would say it's pretty equal across the board when it comes to stupid drivers around the country. From what you said, you would be better off just driving your own vehicle and paying less attention to what the driver next to you is doing, or trying to get you to do. Looks like he suckered you in and you took the bait, you could be dead for such a not so smart decision.
