We're stuck in Prescott, AZ: Billet silver RL w/disabled vet plates, out of medicine trying to find mechanic in Prescott AZ today/Sunday to replace alternator so we can get back home to Phoenix. Any ideas *very* much appreciated!
2008 RTX / 205,000 battery light came on yesterday, pulled over & added water to empty Cel nearest negative battery cable.
Light did not go away, went to AutoZone who said bad alternator.
Went across street to O'Reillys (moving very slow now/dash lights flickering as well for 2nd opinion). They said battery = bad (Cel short), maybe replacing battery might fix alternator problem.
Replaced battery, but alternator kept testing no juice to battery.
Awaiting tow late at night, alternator started *smoking* while vehicle was off/key out.
Pulled power cable off battery, discovered alternator = bad too.
O'Reillys actually had an alternator, so purchased it/tossed in truck for safe keeping.
