Subwoofer Harness

4267 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  TWater
I have a 2014 Sport and I'm upgrading the head unit the hard way I'm now realizing. I bought a 6 CD XM (3TS3) unit off of Ebay. I also purchased the factory sub woofer.

Two questions: Is the sub woofer harness already installed in the Sport? According to the parts manual it is. If it is then I won't need the answer to the second question. Exactly which two pins and which connector is it on? I found a pin out someone else uploaded and according to it there is suppose to ba an 8 pin connector with the sub on pins 4 and 5. I don't see any 8 pin connector on the back of mine. I could upload a picture of the connectors on mine.

I don't want to fire up the head unit without a load on the sub woofer output in fear of blowing the sub amplifier.

I would appreciate any help.

You could remove the rear trim pieces underneath the rear seat and see if there is a plug there...If I remember it was just two wire black and white.

Here ya go...I believe the second picture in the first post is of the subwoofer plug. If you dont have the plug then you would have to wire your own...unless the headunit doesnt even have a connection for it

Which sub amplifier did you purchase?
As an alternative to S.T.U.V.'s suggestion, you could also look at dash wiring to see if connector "C" is present. See diagram below. Either way. you'll know if your RL is wired.

Generally speaking, OEM populate chassis moving thru the production line with single harnesses to support the widest array of options that (may be) installed farther down the line. Cheaper to manufacture & manage one harness vs. several kind of thing.

Thanks OhSix, that's almost what I need. I don't have the C connector on mine. I have a A, B, D and E. The D is for the Aux in. I briefly powered the new unit up and hit the Sound button. It cycles through with Subwoofer, Treble and Bass so I know it has the sub output on it.

I think the pin out you gave is for 2008 and earlier models. In 2009 they made a change to the head units. Mine is stamped 2010.

I ordered the service manual for the unit from a site called ManualsParadise.com. It looks a little sketchy as they take up to 24 hours to deliver a link. It has been already 2 hours and nothing yet.

I did rip out the back seat and fished around but found no harness. I ran my own wire from the sub to the dash. Now I just need to know where to hook it into the HU.

I found nothing on mine. I don't believe it is there.

I don't need an amp as it is built into the stock head unit. I'm replacing a stock HU with no subwoofer output to another stock unit that does have one.

Ah ok. I reread your post and understand now. I though it said just a 6 disc cd changer. Post a picture of the back of your unit....

I have been through 4-5 installer sites and cant find a diagram for a ridgeline or much of any info
I received the service manual last night. Success! Pins 1 sub - and pin 3 sub + on the 14 pin D connector is the output. Looking at the back of the unit it is the two heavier pins to the right.

I made my own subwoofer harness and I'm rockin' now!
