I think the sunglasses holder is made to fit Oakley sunglasses as mine fit perfectly!

I just picked up my new 2018 Ridgeline yesterday and flipped down the sunglass holder and was like what is this curved mirror thingy. However my prescription sunglasses did fit, but not as nicely as in my 2006 Ridgeline. The curved mirror thingy must've been an idea by a guy who was mandated to put one more feature in the truck. A rear seat conversation mirror. I suppose since the truck pretty much drives itself you can spend more time having conversations with people in the back seat.
I went to the truck to check and my half jacket 2.0 fits perfectly! I usually put it in the space in front of the shifter for faster access. I put a pair of tinted safety glasses (similar shape) in the holder incase I head out to a construction site.
I agree! My Whiskers fit perfectly in our gen 1.
That fits ironically well! But lol, My face is way too flat for that kind of sunglasses. Even Oakley's Asian fits aren't flat enough. LOL

My sunglasss holder looks like it was made to hold dwarf bananas. Miss the holders (2) on my G1.

No, it's for keeping an eye on kids in the back seat.

We first saw this on my wife's 2010 CR-V, which was at a point when we had a young 'un in a forward-facing carseat, so it was quite a functional little addition.

That said, the sunglasses holder in my Ridgeline 2G is just a bit too curvy to make it easy to put my glasses up there. I've gotten more used to it now, but still not crazy about it.
I've had lots of "department store" sunglasses over the decades and a few pairs of "designer" brands. Typically, my pattern is: I'll get tired of replacing cheap ones that don't last long then buy a pair of nice ones that I'll eventually lose or break. I'm hesitant to spend big bucks again, so I'll go back to cheap ones and the cycle repeats. Being the tight wad that I am, it really pains me to spend so much on a sunglasses, but the more expensive ones really do fit better and last longer. I just finished a run of cheap ones, so I set out looking for a pair of white Oakleys. A couple of things I look for in sunglasses: 1) A molded-in nose piece as opposed to the adjustable/replaceable nose pads which tend to be a weak spot for me and 2) non-polarized lenses that don't darken LCD displays. Ironically, the Oakley Ridgeline is exactly the style I was looking for! I've found that the G2's sunglasses holder isn't as accommodating at the G1's.
