No, it's for keeping an eye on kids in the back seat.The curved mirror thingy must've been an idea by a guy who was mandated to put one more feature in the truck. A rear seat conversation mirror. I suppose since the truck pretty much drives itself you can spend more time having conversations with people in the back seat.
We first saw this on my wife's 2010 CR-V, which was at a point when we had a young 'un in a forward-facing carseat, so it was quite a functional little addition.
That said, the sunglasses holder in my Ridgeline 2G is just a bit too curvy to make it easy to put my glasses up there. I've gotten more used to it now, but still not crazy about it.
