Text message does not work

The text message function in my BE has been possessed since day one. The phone (GS6 edge) connects as I can see it displayed near the top of the fingerprint screen. I get varying amounts of success depending on how it feels. Some days I get nothing on the display, I stop at a light and check my phone and there are texts. Other days the display will show a little icon of an envelope up by the display near the top of the screen that shows your phone is connected. On others I will actually get a tone and a window pop up on my display showing i have a message. I hit read message and it tells me I have to be in park to read it. Wonderfully useful feature, all that means is did out your phone and check your message and try not to take your eyes off the road (just being honest..... most of us do it...) this is not a very user friendly set up. On other days it actually works as it should (or how I find it most useful and SAFE!) A screen pops up saying i have a message and if I hit read it actually reads the message over the center speaker and then gives me an option to reply with a few generic replies like "ok" or "i'm driving now" or "running late" or " i'm buying avocados" . This way is great! I would love it this way! But its a freaking crap shoot every time I get in to see what Ridgeline I get, the good one or the possessed one. It always connects and shows up on the top of the screen, but just decides how it will work that day. I have deleted and reconnected my phone several times but the result is always the same. As a side note, my wife has a 2016 Pilot Elite and she has the same issue with her vehicle. This along with with the 9 speed trans and how it reacts when you hit the gas to pass has us looking at a Q7 to replace the pilot.......

Mine does the same (Motorola droid), but only in Bluetooth mode. If i use a USB cable + Android Auto app (which launches automatically when i plug in the USB), it works perfectly. It's a bit of a pain to have to use the USB, but i don't mind, since I may as well charge it anyway.

Thanks for posting this. I thought mine was possessed also. Getting very frustrating. Sometimes mine goes freak out on the audio also. It says it is connected and I see the last song that was played on my phone but then it will not play or change tracks.

Then today bluetooth would not recognize my phone even though it was on the screen. I had to delete it then connect again to bluetooth.

Android Auto seems to be working fine but for short trips it is a pain plugging it in and then remembering to take it with you.

I don't know if Android audio works the same as Apple car play but when I had my iPhone plugged into the USB for Apple car play AND connected via Bluetooth the systems seemed to work against each other. The Bluetooth system used the Honda text message system and the apple car play used the apple version. I have since gotten in the habit to connect my phone to the USB when I get in truck. I have disconnected the Bluetooth all together.
