The top of my dashboard started rattling.

Anyone else having issues with the top of their dashboard rattling on bumpy roads. It's not visibly loose but it makes sounds when on bump roads. I'm able to stop it by putting my hand on top of the center dash when I'm driving.

Ugh... I hate rattles! My truck has 500 miles on it and I'm starting to notice a slight squeak in my dash over bumps. Will see how it goes... my wife laughs at me because I am OCD with rattles. But I am willing to risk more rattles at the expense of having the dealership eliminate one. After some time, they get sick of me, and glue the whole thing solid. Then its great!
Mine has done it a few times but randomly. If I put my hand on the center speaker cover it stops

Do a search under user zroger, he had the same issue and found that the culprit was a clip on the center speaker. Easy fix.

Whatever happened to Zroger? He was a pretty prolific poster on here, then disappeared a few months ago...
I think that when he became moderator for a short while it may have sobered up his enthusiasm. He does come on the board it seems but has been quiet.

That's too bad....he had some pretty good tidbits of information from time to time.

Back to the dashboard rattle...I think I'd track that suckered down and tighten any loose screws, bend any loose tabs, and glue down whatever couldn't be tacked down otherwise. Good ol' rubber cement works wonders, if it is compatible with whatever you're putting it on. I used it to tack up some wires when I did the undercabinet lighting in my kitchen, worked great and wires are hidden from view.
There's a lot of things related to clips/pin/connector not fully "clicked" in... wouldn't hurt to give your RL some love and see what you can improves from faulty assembled.

give things a push here and there and see if they align better !

I "HAD" a low/droop spot on the interior roof liner, next to the right of the sunroof...a firm push and heard it 'clicked into place. ... all is well. :nerd:

Being a forum mod is not an easy task... I was one for many years, but then I graduated and started working. I can imagine car people are harder to moderate than chicken people. LOL

Prior to his current absence on the forum, Zroger went silent here when he sold his G1 RL and bought a CR-V, something he hinted he might repeat not long after buying a G2 and mentioning that he really didn't need a truck. I learned a lot from his posts and miss the great information he provided.

Where are you Z? Hope you're doin' OK. Any clues what happened to him, Speedlever?

Reviving this old thread...

Did you ever resolve the rattling? If so, what did you end up doing? I too am starting to hear a little rattle on the dashboard.

I searched for Zroger73 but couldn't find any post in regards to fixing a clip with the center speakers.
I had rattles with the passenger side tweeter and also between the hvac controls and touchscreen rattling on bumpy roads. When you take the dash apart you'll see lots of fabric tape on parts that rub together.

Order some Tesa fabric tape and apply it to any parts that may be rubbing together.

Good deal on Amazon http://a.co/7q9dDF7

Thanks Shaun for the recommendation. I have yet to diagnose where the noise is coming from.
