TPMS - Do I really need them on my winters?

I've read through various threads here, I've asked at Honda.
All I need is a straight answer.
New Ridgeline owner.
I've just put my winter tires on, Can I safely drive on pavement throughout the winter with my TPMS light on.

Follow up, If not, which after market TPMS should I purchase.
I will not be buying Honda TPMS, I'm upset at their constant upselling every time I go to their garage.

Thank you,
James

With the TPMS light illuminated, you will be unable to defeat VSA using the panel switch. Otherwise, you will lose the ability to detect a tire losing pressure via the TPMS system.

Being unable to defeat VSA via the panel switch, you will lose the ability to use wheelspin to maintain momentum in snow, sand, mud, etc.

Regarding aftermarket TPMS sensors, if you decide to go that route, I purchased TRW sensors from Discount Tire.

Once installed, I deflated each tire and the sensors performed as expected. I am very pleased with the sensors and have had no issues with them.
