I only tow about twice a year anymore, so when I bought my RL Sport, I cheaped out and bought an aftermarket T harness. It has worked fine but started noticing corrosion around the plug and the goofy black box. I ordered the Honda kit from handa.com. Sure it cost more, but it took about the same amount of time to install as the T harness. Plus it won't lead to any gremlins. Trailer lights are hard enough to keep working as it is.

With those aftermarket T harness, it all about where you live. Anyplace where rust or corrosion is weather-related, the aftermarket trailer harness always seem to fail.

In my case, however, in Arizona, I've had my aftermarket harness on since 2008 and it still works perfectly, even after I spliced in another four pin connector so I could run an aftermarket fireline tail and turn signal bar, which I'd also still working great.

bottom line, consider where you live when buying you trailer wire harness.
