True or False

The dealership told me that the Ridgeline has been sold overseas for over 10 years and that this year was the American introduction.

This was to calm my fears about buying a "first year" product.

What do you think?
Find a different dealer... that one is lying to you.

The Ridgeline is the most unlikely vehile Honda makes to have been sold overseas. Pickup trucks are mostly a North American thing... you see very few in other parts of the world.
That's nuts. They lied.

Nice truck, RivaDragon. I see you love it as much as we love ours. It's good to see another member from the Wasatch Front. We're up Ogden way so it would really surprise me to see you on the road, but I'll keep my eye out.
I think your dealer misquoted comments made by Honda regarding Ridgeline development. Honda has considered developing a truck for about 10 years and began seriously about 5 years ago.

Who knows, maybe Honda did have a prototype truck in Japan 10 years ago that we did not know about. Toyota has a Sienna hybrid in Japan that US market will not see for a while.

Small pickups are all over Asia. But USA does have a pick-me-up culture that is very unique to the rest of the world.
Honda refers to all its SUVs as trucks - perhaps they meant something other than the Ridgeline. Otherwise that was a load of BS.
Yeah, I figured as much.

I ended up not buying from that dealership because of the dishonesty. Drove all the way from Salt Lake City to Denver to get the one I wanted.

It was sitting right there 4 miles from my house, but I could not do business with those folks.

I could not find record on the net of a Honda truck in Japan, so it was definately another dealership lie.

Truckin' you'd be suprised, I get up Ogden way every couple of weeks :)
Well Honda does have a pick 'em up in Japan.

but yeah, it's not really the ridgeline.
I think that it would sell here. A very basic, simple around town, around the farm, around the factory (if there any left in the USA) type truck from Honda. Make it a Hybrid or a diesel and it would be another unique winner for Honda. I don't think it would fill the spot as Ridgelines little brother.
Put a hot dog wagon on the chassis and that's my retirement vehicle.
Its TRUE your Dealer gave you FALSE information.

I just realized how small this thing is, it weighs in under 1900lbs and has around 45hp.

It's a very tiny truck.
See less See more
Just add $4,000 worth of Wheels and tires, $5,000 worth of thumpin-whumpin stereo equipment for everyone to hear and feel (and be annoyed by), and, oh ya, a really big spoiler, any you just might have something there.
I could understand why the dealer told you that. It also has that " similar" shape that the Avalanche has! :p
