Most certainly this symptom will never occur on my G2 until the OEM warranty expires.

This TSB applies to ALL 2016 Accords and Pilots with navigation and many 2017 Accords, Pilots, and Ridgelines with navigation - that's about a half-million vehicles. The instructions are to temporarily attach a "test" GPS antenna. If the symptoms don't resolve, the navigation unit needs to be replaced.

I think when manufacturers discover a known defect like this, the warranty for the specific defect should be extended. I've got another year of warranty on my Ridgeline. I'd be mighty upset if I had to spend $864 on a remanufactured navigation unit at 36,001 miles.

Are the Ridgeline VIN number ranges specified in the TSB early production units? My VIN has an extra number/digit such as 5FPYK3F7X.HB000001 thru 5FPYK3F7X.HB026162

The 9th position in the VIN is only a check digit. The TSB shows a period instead of an "X" as a placeholder for this check digit since "X" is a valid check digit.

I recently went through the issue with my GPS dropping the VIN number and the dealer had the truck for two days working with Garmin to reinstall the software. I don't know if this is related but the first symptom was a Maps Won't Load error.
I've been using mostly Apple maps for navigating maybe I should return to the onboard maps so I can spot an issue early.

It's frustrating to have to replace the expensive navigation unit, but apparently there is an issue with the GPS receiver that can't be resolve with a software update.
