Vtm 4 lock question

I am looking to buy a 2011
The vtm 4 lock light is on and the button does not light whalen pressed and does not seem the engage
Ia this somthing i need to worry about or take into major consideration before i purches

The vtm-4 but light will only turn on when the transmission is in 1st or 2nd. It will not light up in D. The vtm-4 on the gauge I'm not sure about.

So the light is on all the time? That usually points to an issue. You could pay for a diagnosis through a dealer or somebody if the seller tells you no you cant have that done then run away
