I am thinking about buying a Jayco 22' feather sport trailer that weighs 3900 lbs. The salesman says my 2007 Ridgeline needs a weight distribution hitch, but the owners manual says Honda does not recommend any weight distribution hitches. What do you guys think? Also is a dry weight of 3900 lbs a bit too much, or can my Ridgeline easily handle it... as the salesman says?

I tow a Jay Feather Sport 20 footer that weighs 3990 loaded and I use a weight distribution hitch. I think the key phrase in the manual is "if improperly adjusted...". I discussed it with the service techs at my local dealership and they checked it out for me with the trailer in tow and told me as long as I stayed within the weight limits I would be okay.
