What are the black rubber plugs for???

6180 Views 13 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  heartbreakridgeline
When my wife picked up my Ridgeline yesterday in among all of the manuals, leaflets and baggies were two oval black rubberplugs. They are approximately 2" x 1-3/8" with a 3/8" thick sealing ridge.

Anybody got an idea what they are for???

Thanks,

Steve

CONGRATULATIONS on your new Ridgeline!!! The rubber plugs are from the frame of your RL. They are removed to allow the tie down hooks to secure your RL during transport.
... which were supposed to be installed prior to delivery. They supposedly reduce interior noise.
Thanks, headed out to crawl under it to find the slots. I'll try to post the location.

Ok, I found two similarly shaped holes in the transverse frame crossmember forward of the catalytic converter and to the rear of the engine.

If I found the wrong holes post a reply, Thanks.

Congratulations on your great purchase and joining the ROC.

I found six of those in my glove box. Going to look today for their correct install locations while I install my chrome nerf side bars.

If "traverse" means side-to-side then I think you got the wrong holes.

They go in holes on the inside of frame members just behind the rocker panels.

Someone posted the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) document a while back that has a picture.

I'd be concerned that your dealer cheated on other PDI items, too.
anyone know the part # for these? I'm missing the rear ones on both sides.

Wrong holes.

I just got finished installing my chromed nerf side bars and found the correct holes for these oval shaped grommets.

Mark (mjstraw) is correct, they go in the holes on the inside of frame members just behind the rocker panels. Three grommets in each frame rail.

The holes you refer to are at the outer edge of the crossmember. (last picture)

Finialy had a chance to go back under my truck. The drawing contained in the link is spot on. Looks like my dealer owes me 4 more of the grommets.

Thanks,

Steve
Shazam!

Okay, I'll admit I'm not the sharpest crayon in the box but I was really having a time finding the two that are close together in JOZ RIDG's photos. If you look on the inside of the rocker panel, in the middle of the rear door on each side it might be a little easier to find them. The ones up front are pretty easy to locate. I was wearing a hole in my driveway with the creeper looking for these little buggers. Hope this helps.

Nope, my pic shows the Black Rubber grommet except for some reason the black is white and has a blue background. But, the shape is very distinct, only it is white, not black. Must be the lighting iono?
