I removed my floor mats to clean them and noticed a rectangular black rubber plaque (~3"x 7") labeled "Frame Number" on floor of passenger's side. Does anyone know what the significance of this may be?

Well now you've done it....... the whole world knows now. :surprise:

It's a flip up door and your VIN # is underneath.

Vehicles must have a VIN on multiple parts. It doesnt do much good if you have to disassemble the car to find / read it. So, it just allows access to it. I dont think its meant to be hidden, because tampering with a deeply stamped VIN on a steel frame should be fairly apparent.
