I took my front mud flaps off and on the driver side there is a metal looking (flap) hanging down and on the passenger side nothing, anyone know why this is ? Thanks

and yes I will be cleaning around where the flaps were and even under the tire shroud, lot of stuff under there....

That metal flap is part of the crash structure. Offset head on crashes usually occur on the drivers side. The flap help dissipate the impact forces and helps protect your lower extremities in the event of a crash.

Thanks, that is really weird that they would put it just on one side if it does make a deference....

Cars aren't left-right symmetrical - the drivers side (whether LHD or RHD) has openings for the brake booster, clutch pedal, and steering wheel. So in a crash, there's a different amount of metal there to bend and absorb energy.
