I just bought a used 2007 used RL with 100300 miles and I experienced this same problme last night where the shifter lever would stop at neutral and not move down to Drive. I moved it back to park and tried again and the same thing happend then finally it went into drive. Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I don’t want to be stuck with something like this right off the bat. I have a few days to return the car no questions asked.

Rather than troubleshoot it yourself, as the vehicle is new to you, have it looked at by the folks who sold it to you. Let them fix it for you. This way you have a documented problem/issue upon immediate purchase.
