Seriously? Am I missing something? All other models have over the air updates... why not the Ridgeline?

This infotainment is the major weak point of the vehicle. hard to understand why it is so poor...
My 2022 does give me the option to connect to my homes Wi-Fi. It is now connected, but I am unclear as to what purpose it serves until I see something happen. I agree the inforainment system is a weak point in the RL...Honda could have offered better, but is getting rid of old stock.

I, too, am connected to wifi (when at home and even when away since I’m linked to a hotspot 24/7), but there’s NO “update” ability anywhere I’ve seen. It’s useless. Wish this could be updated. The system is slow as molasses and feels 10+ years old. I assumed it was due to “chip shortage” but that just can’t be right. It’s definitely the weakest “feature” of the ridgeline.

Contact Honda on their website and give them this feedback.
We all know here on this forum that the infotainment on RL is from 2016, and hasnt been updated while all the other models from same platform(Pilot, Passport) were updated years ago.
At this point only feedback to Honda can hopefully help them prioritize updating this in a future model refresh.
Apparently they do value some sort of customer feedback, I got $10 Amazon bucks for participating in one of their recent product feature surveys Via ClarityResearch.

Several manufacturers that provide the OTA capability do not allow you to manually check for an update. Once one becomes available, they just push it to your head unit. Not sure what, or if anything, Honda is doing, but it could be a push feature and not one you can request or check on your own.

Understood. And agreed. But seeing as I was planning on keeping this new truck few 4-6 years that plan does nothing for me. :(
I love the truck. Just a little tiny bummer that even the loading of the radio presets takes 5 min to pop up (that’s just one example)

My guess is that it will get updated in the next major refresh...maybe 2023?

From what I recall, it is just our infotainment that does not get OTA updates. My '19 Odyssey has the other style that has had the volume knob longer and it does get OTA updates. Not sure why they can't do both, but I agree with all others, would be nice to have an update to it (anything that might help it run a little faster).

If Honda didn't have all those problems with the MOST network connections on the Pilot, Oddy, and Passport with the Alpine head units, they may have installed that system in to the Ridgeline. But instead they got Clarion to update their unit with a volume knob, which solved all of our problems. And they probably committed to X number of units to be purchased. Now that Honda has a handle on the MOST network problem, can Alpine supply enough units to cover all of the production line models under these pandemic constraints?

Why couldn't they have thrown the 2019 Pilot radio in it? It is far ahead of the 2022 RL one.

This is one of the many reasons I will not purchase a Ridgeline. I have a CRV with lousy infotainment system and can't wait for the lease to end!. Ford had them beat hands down! Find this quite odd from an asian manufacturer. Guess Honda will lose my business.

Not very helpful. But good luck to you.

Good luck with your Ford. Have you read the Ford forums??? 100X worse than a Honda! You don’t buy a vehicle based on the radio it has…..

I have to tell you guys, my 22 is not slow... it has reasonable response time to things. I dont know if something is different in 22 vs 18 vs 20, but the whole system, while nothing to write home about, really isn't that bad, then again, I use android auto for navigation and bluetooth for music/sirius and the backup camera is more than worthy of being called a camera.. it has a super wide view of everything.. I've seen MUCH WORSE.

Really? You have NO delay to touchscreen input? No delay for even the basics - like preset stations loading visually or playing music on a usb or opening the cars nav? No obvious delay after various button presses?
I agree, once CarPlay or blue tooth is loaded it seems fine. But the general pauses and delays are pretty obvious for me.
I sure do.

someone here said it takes multiple seconds to react to a touch of the screen. No, I do not have that. I push the virtual button and it does what I asked... I use the left side steering wheel buttons to go through channels, responds just as quickly as my other cars... maybe we should start posting videos?

I've only had my 2022 RL for a few days, so far I haven't noticed any delays. The system is MUCH better than my wife's 2019 Audi Q5. That nav/infotainment system crashes and reboots at least once on every drive. Usually right when you need it!
