On the RT and RTX trims, what exactly does the "Max A/C" mode do? I know it forces the Recirculate function to ocuur, but is there anything else? When I have the Normal A/C set to the highest fan setting and have the air recirculating it functions, feels, and sounds EXACTLY the same before I push the "Max A/C" button as it it does after. Does the "Max A/C" button do anything specific, other than setting everything (highest fan speed, coldest temp setting, and recirc) to the optimal level? :confused:

Normal AC mode allows outside air to be filtered into the system and cooled then blown at the desired speed into the cabin. For the "Max AC" setting, the recirculation gate closes causing the cabin air to be recirculated through the AC system so that it is cooled faster since it makes multiple passes over the part that cools the air (condensor?) as well as the fan speed being increased to its maximum speed.

The air passes through the evaporator, not the condenser:p . The condenser is located out in the nose of the truck.

If I remember right, when I switch to "max", it also speeds the fan up some too as well as recirculating the air.

It sounds different because it's switching to inside air, but I don't think the speed changes.

Okay, poke fun at me :mad: ;) I'm not an AC tech, but at least I got across how the MAX AC setting if different from the Normal AC setting :rolleyes:

I could be wrong, but I thought the only difference was that max uses the recirculate function automatically instead of having to push that button manually when using normal AC.

That's what I'm thinking as well. just looking for confirmation, so - Thank You.

Yes, correct. But if 1) the recirc gate is already closed, 2) normal A/C is on, 3)max fan speed is selected, and 4)coldest air is selected: then is there anything different or extra that happens when you select "Max A/C"?

No, you just did it all manually.
