True in some cases. Most people put the bumpers that come with some shields on the shield--not a good idea, the bumper will vibrate and literally rub the paint off. They should go on the actual hood. The low profile shield like above, doesn't deflect anymore to your windshield than a car without one. The geometry will be the same as stock. Now the off the hood types DO tend to help stones find your glass, and really don't do squat about actual bugs.
I leave early in the morning to go to work, around 4:00 AM, one day something came over the concrete divider and hit the aluminum hood of my Titan, and destroyed my AVS shield, scarred the crap out of me!!! I got to work and checked it out, shield was trash, and when I got home, I took it off, no dents or even a scratch. The very best shields I have used are from Formfit in Canada, I've had them on my last 4 vehicles, they aren't as simple to install, but are the best I've ever seen. They don't make one for our 2021 RL yet.
