I installed a pair of Lasfit LA Plus9005-N LED bulbs in my RL yesterday. About as plug and play as you can get. The whole job took 15 minutes. The light output is a tremendous improvement. i have used Lasfit bulbs before and like them a lot. I highly recommend them. And on sale for only $69.

I went with LED's and love them but beware the DRL light output may be too high for oncoming drivers even in the full sun. I got some flicker control modules from Headlight Revolution (where I got the bulbs) and that tamed down the high beams when used as DRL's. The bulbs absolutely light up the night and are well focused (although high beam patterns allow for a lot of light everywhere).

The part that brings legality into question is that you are not supposed to install LED lamps into housings that are designed for halogen lamps, but many people still do.

I just went on Lasfit's website and the highest year in the fitment indicator is 2020 Ridgeline. I called and the rep told me they have not yet verified the bulb the OP indicated in the link for use in Ridgelines higher than 2020. Were there any significant changes in the housing or wiring that would orevent using them for high beams on my 2022 RTL-E? I would think not but perhaps zroger73 can chime in?

OK thanks Ba11, do they operate like this?
-Headlights off (or set to "auto") in daylight: high beam is always on as DRL. Being it's daytime a brighter LED shouldn't cause any problem unless extremely bright. But what would constitute "extremely bright", has anyone with a Sport or RTL noticed this as a problem?

-Headlights on in daylight: DRL as such does not function, headlight on low or high beam as selected so could just drive with headlights on, set to low beam. But tail lights would also be on and interior gauge lights would default to dim.

-Headlights on at night: same as above.

I can't say specifically for the RTL because I don't have one. I will say the generally with most vehicles they call them daytime running lights, but they are really just always running lights. So most likely even at night time they will be on with the regular headlights.

After you buy the truck, test it out before slotting a LED bulb in there. Or hopefully someone else here can provide direct experience for you.

Your DRLs are not part of your high-beams so don't have this issue. If you want to switch to LEDs, you only need to make sure they are 9005s.
Good information I didn't realize high beam 9005 bulbs operate at a lower lumen in DRL mode. I'll try to research what 9005 LED replacements do this before buying.
One option for $51. Free returns if any issues.

Ive put led’s in my 23’ Imridgeline.
Diode Dynamics brand but theres a lot of good brands like Morimoto.
Focused beam and metal vs plastic body are differences I see between cheaper and more premium bulbs.
You will like the difference and your auto high beam will work better for some reason.

So I installed the LED high beams. What a difference that makes, almost unbelievable. And you are 100% correct, for whatever reason my auto high beam definitely comes on and stays on better, I need a little more time to make sure they’re going to do dim accordingly for oncoming traffic, I hope they do or they will be blinded for sure! Lol

I would also recommend purchasing one of these :

That way when you remove the intake manifold you can connect this to your negative battery wire that is attached to the frame. This way you have a connection point for the negative so if you ever have to jump your car or help someone, you don't have to worry about taking the manifold off! You have access to the positive but for some reason Honda decided to bury the negative - pretty dumb. Easy fix though!

Watch from 1:46-2:45 as he gives a good explanation

Fact is that if you do not connect directly to the battery you encounter some small resistance in the circuit wherever you connect which WILL interfere with jumping and charging of the battery. With resistance you get current loss and voltage drop. If you think otherwise you must be not in the electronics field at all. E=I/R Always true.

Never said there wasn't any resistance in the chassis. Granted, there will be more resistance at the rear of the chassis as opposed to a few inches away. You said it yourself, you will encounter small resistance but we aren't talking several kilohms. We're talking a minute amount.
It in the end it still jumps and starts your car, with out hurting anything, correct? Just curious if causes issue.
Nope. Either way will work fine.

Amazon reviews on the Lasfit LA Plus9005-N seem to show issues from 5 months to 1YR after purchase.

  • What life would you expect out an LED bulb?
  • If these review are accurate, are there better quality, even is more costly, options?

Where I live, there are a lot of very dark county roads I drive on at night. I use my high beams a lot, and these LEDs make a huge difference for spotting deer, both off to the side, and far ahead, compared to the factory high-beams. In my case they are very useful, I just hope they last a while. If not, I will do a bit more research if I have to replace.
