Completely disagree. My 2022 BE performs each of these as I would expect. I would definitely get it back to the dealer for service.
I agree with you. Overall mine acts as it should as well. Other than a few things that are irritating, (wireless charger, auto highbeams) the safety system still seems to work just fine on my vehicle. Almost 10,000 miles and I’ve never had anything near the issues as he describes. Certainly never something that would’ve been considered dangerous.

Hello all,

I wanted to report some problems that im having in hopes someone here can provide some guidance. I just bought a 2023 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition about a week and a half ago. Yesterday was the first day that I drove the truck for a prolonged period of time (500 mile trip). There are 6 issues right now with the truck, 2 of them being serious hazardous safety issues. I will start with the less dangerous ones: The front parking sensors stopped working, the wireless charger is not charging the phones, the talk button on the steering wheel wont recognize commands (called Honda support tech and we tried everything) and the transmission is having shift delays and shakiness. The 2 big safety issues that almost caused me to have an accident in 7 different occasions are the Adaptive Cruise Control system, this system is supposed to keep a distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in-front of you and its supposed to adapt and match the speed, the system is failing to recognize vehicles in-front of me and keeps accelerating at a constant speed without slowing down to the point of almost getting into a collision, I had to take aggressive preventive action, this happened 4 times in the last 2 days. The second big safety issue is that when im cruising in the highway with the cruise control engaged and another car merges into my lane in-front of me the Ridgeline will aggressively brake (not a normal slow down), it brakes so hard that everything inside the truck went flying and the car behind me almost crashed into me. This happens a lot, but 3 of those times in the last 2 days the cars behind me had to drive into the shoulder of the road to prevent colliding with me. Its not only with cars merging into my lane but also when I have cars in the same lane that slow down (for example from 70mph to 65mph, my truck wont recognize it until the very last second and it will aggressively brake with a lot of distance between us. I want to point out that im very familiar with how the system works, we also have a 2020 Toyota Sienna that has the same system and it does not behave like this. There is something seriously wrong with the truck and this problem can and will likely end up in an accident that can result in serious injury or death. I need Honda to make this right.

I have owned many Honda vehicles and have never had problems with them, this includes 3 CRX's (88 and 91), 1993 Honda Civic Hatchback, 2008 Honda Ridgeline, 2010 Honda Fit, 2012 Honda Civic Ex, 2012 Honda Civic Si, 2014 Honda Odyssey and now the 2023 Honda Ridgeline.

Yesterday before taking off on the long trip, the front parking sensors went off and would not stop making sound, it was constant, I took a video of it. I got off the truck thinking there was something in-front but there was nothing. I had to turn the truck OFF and then ON again and it went away but they never worked again.

I was very happy with my new Ridgeline until today, this thing turned out to be a lemon.
I really do not think you have a lemon or defects. Keeping in mind Honda Sense is not the same as Toyota's (I cam from a Subaru), etc. Honda Sense is just not that good; they have packaged a beta product that is far inferior to the competition. All the issues with Honda Sense and Active Cruise are pretty par for the course.

Keep in mind the front sensors only really work in the corners, if you are heading strait on to post the system will be silent.

I have not had issues with the talk button; but the entire phone interface / infotainment is mediocre at bet. Additionally, the wireless charging is a well known issue in the '22 that is a feature still advertised by Honda in the 23 even though it doesn't work.

The only real issue I think you may have is with the transmission. One thing to check first, is the if the green eco button is engaged. Acceleration and shifting is greatly improved with eco off. That said the transmission is a bit goofy with shifting and coasting.

well that is the way of the world with all these gadgets now, but I am changing the ways I buy anything from here on out, I always pay cash for anything I buy, vehicles, tractors and etc, but from here on out I am financing everything for as long as I can, in the first year if I encounter problems like you speak of or I had with a 2018 F150 in the first year I am going to park it in front of the dealership with the keys in it and wave it good bye, I am tired of helping company's iron out their problems at my expense! and by the way, in my 2019 sport the blue tooth is the pits!

What kind of issues did you have with the 18 F-150? Was it a eco boost motor or 5.0?

I have a 2019 and have none of the problems you mentioned. Only had the brakes applied very strong one time and honestly a guy was turning right in front of me, I was going around him, and it was really close. I can't fault the truck. Good luck with your dealer.

I recently traded a 2020 for a new 2023 Ridgeline RTL-E, had the vehicle back to the dealer for an alarm issue. That said, the alarm issue was controlled by a computer that controls lots of other things. Honda replaced the computer in 1.5 hours And it resolved the issue. In today’s day and age computers control virtually every aspect of your vehicle from the radio to the tire pressure sensor, having a computer issue that causes all these is not that uncommon and certainly doesn’t make your vehicle a lemon. (Remember we’re coming out of the “chip shortage” so I’m sure quality control at the chip factories is down) It’s unfortunate that your dealer locations are not closer to home. But I’m sure if you get the vehicle in they will resolve all your issues. Honda was great for my issue and I’ve never had any issues scheduling an appointment. Maybe try another dealer to get in quicker. Get these bugs worked out and im sure you’ll be happy with the vehicle. I couldn’t be happier with my new Truck. Best of luck to you.

Immediately see to it Honda makes it right! This many serious problems definitely say LEMON.
I HAVE A 2013 Ridgeline only problem so far is it's a gas hog!

I agree with one responder who mentioned the following distance being set short for acc cruise might cause the truck to be overly responsive to changes in front of you. Our 2018 is set to the furthest following distance and has been from the getgo. It seems to be fine 99% of the time. My only complaint is the truck doesn't seem to quickly enough recognize there are no vehicles in front of it after and exiting vehicle is no longer there. In those cases, I just press my foot lightly down on the accelerator peddle and the truck responds as if to say "Oh, you want me to go at the set speed" and not mope along. LOL! That really is a minor gripe. Other responders have commented about using acc cruise on a winding road. I too have had false alerts in those cases. I expect it. I think once they have Ridgelines utilizing gps as a part of the programing to adjust speed we will see better performance. The system needs to recognize curves ahead and also elevation gain.

So my suggestion would be, if the dealer can do nothing to fix your truck would be to try adjusting the sensitivity of the acc cruise, lane departure and collision avoidance, etc. Talk to your salesman about these features. They are supposed to be showing them to you at time of purchase anyway and also watch Youtube presentations. Honda has youtubes of all the features on our Ridgelines explained in detail from a very lovely young woman who is easy to understand.

That seems quite unusual "for a Honda" ... I have a 21 Ridgeline RTL-E that has never had an issue ,,, wait I take that back ... I just had the sliding part of the rear window replaced because the defroster only worked on the top portion of the glass ... as for the ZF 9-speed .... its a quirky beast ... but if you can get past the design using dog clutches then it's a fine transmission ...Thanks Keith

Wow! I didn't know there were so many issues with the G2 Ridgeline. My '07 RTL with 80k is purring like a kitten..... Of course I don't have Honda Sense. Sounds like they at the very least need to recalibrate all the sensors/cameras..................keep us posted on what the dealer does. Definitely does not sound right.

Unfortunately, Honda cashed in some reliability in exchange for better efficiency, better performance, better safety, newer electronics, more comfort, and different styling.

I have a 2023, other than a few things like the wireless charger and poor auto highbeam sensors, the truck is excellent in my opinion. ~10K and no regrets and would buy another one in a heartbeat. Just like every vehicle, there’s things that could be better, but overall I love it.

Having less to break and fiddle with, really does reduce the number of things that can go wrong. That said, my 17' was doing wonderfully at 80k miles as well.

sounds like you’re having some trouble now, can I ask what’s happening? My apologies if you mentioned it elsewhere and I did not see it. I’m just curious of the problem and mileage. Thanks.

Transmission woes of the 6 speed. You should be fine with the 9 speed! @zroger73 has pointed you to my saga.
