I've contacted Murdock Ind. They produce bed mats for the Honda Element and Ridgeline. http://murdockindustrial.com/elemmat/index.php?cPath=27&osCsid=72ae48020be7fbe5deb9be99eea63b3c

Below is the response today from Tony - 3.10.06
-----------------------------------------------

I can give the same discounts that we give the Honda Dealerships that are selling them for us, which would be 20% off and could apply that to the Bed liner or the Complete set... can't do just the trunk mat separately though.

If you want to set up a group buy day which is one day only, I'll let you be in charge of it - Monday the 27th works great for me and gives me time to prepare. It's all up to you now Thanks!!!

Tony

----------------------------

OK - what do you all think - anyone up for a group buy day? contact me elementhunt@yahoo.com

With the 20% off, that would be 199.20 for Complete Set - Ridgeline Bed, Tailgate, Trunk Liners. Shipping to KY would be 68.36 ground.

Thanks

NKyRidge,
Very nice discount on a premium product. Only $10 more than the bed liner by itself for the complete set.

The shipping is discouraging though I know it is a substantial (heavy) mat.

Good to see others getting the GB bug !
Nice work,
Jeff

Well, I would prefer they off us a 15-20% discount for being part of the forum. And let the consumer buy at their leisure. I'm going to offer that option too. I think long term that would net him more business. ;)

Re: Ridgeline Bedmat - Murdock Inc.

Hello -

I've decided to pull the group buy, based on the response from Murdock on Tuesday 3/14/06

Please contact me directly at nkyridge@yahoo if you require more detail. Thanks

< I don’t recommend them from a customer service perspective >

I found a great bed mat liner on Ebay for $99 with shipping included. Custom made for the Ridgeline bed. Very heavy duty, only problem is the in-bed trunk will not stay up without you holding it due to the weight of the liner. It was shipping to me rolled up with a sealed plastic cover, and I received it quickly. Check it out by following the link below.

Maybe someone can contact this seller on Ebay and set up a group buy with him. He looks reasonable.

There are two sides to every story.

The just of it is that due to material costs, I cannot offer an additional permanent discount to members of the ROC. I appreciate the request, however cannot do it. The pricing on the internet is already disounted for your support.

The positive side is that the mat offered by Murdock Industrial Inc. is of the highest quality, best grip surface with the Z pattern, and designed to outlast the truck. I have had great feedback on every purchase of our Ridgeline bed mat and will strive for only quality products at a fair and honest.

Cheers-

Tony

Re: Ridgeline Bedmat - Murdock Inc.

I agree with above. I have the story, both sides, if anyone would like it. You can make your own decisoin.

My decision to pull away as lead for group buy is due to customer service and respect. NOT due to the product standards, quality, or cost. I'd buy one tomorrow - but, I won't deal with a company, when they talk to prospective customers, like the rep did from Murdock. I'm only giving my view and experience.

Good luck Tony.

I ordered the full set from Murdock. While I agree that their product is of the highest quality and they did address my issues with the product with cooperation, my jury is still out on the wisdom of my purchase. First, I had to cut the mat for the bed to clear the rear tie downs in order to access the trunk. Is this a way to solve the issue of the mat raising up at high speeds? Really no big deal. Except for that, the bed mat fits very well. The trunk liners fit very well too and are of nice material. Don't expect anything out of the tailgate liner though. Without glueing or drilling or trimming, it can only be used temporarily with the tailgate down, leaving no access to the trunk. The trunk is one thing that makes non Ridgies go "wow"! Plus, it took almost two weeks to get the set. Were the trunk liners worth it over my WalMart bath mat fix? No. The bed liner itself? Yes I think so after a few weeks anyway. The tailgateliner? Trimmed up it will make great padding somewhere in my shop. They did give me credit for the set and only charged me for the bed mat, so certainly they are concerned about their customers. Like I said, my jury is still out.

Murdocks tries to do the best that we can do... certainly it is difficult to please all of the people all of the time, but when something does go wrong - I try to fix the problem in the most honest and mutually benificial way.

The Bed mat is the best on the market to date... I just received in a protecta mat today - to check out the 'competition' and is much more flimsey and made from masticated rubber, and the mold job on it doesn't match the bed dimensions which allows for fast moving are to get under it and lift it up... if you will see on ours - it is cut to include the front tie downs... and even provides the ability to use a padlock - so that it cannot be stolen (or give additional protection if you're a tornado chaser) lol.

The trunk mat - very nice and not made of carpet which makes for easy cleaning. Protects bottom from scratchs and holds items in place.

Tailgate protector, designed to be removable to allow access to the trunk and to cover the tailgate when it is used but not a permanently attached item... I didn't want to do anything to the Ridgeline that would effect the resale value and this was the best solution. It also stays in place while the bed extender is in use - which is also nice. With the tailgate up, the protector can be put under the Z Ridgeline Bed Mat for storage and easy access.

I'm curious- I have been thinking about coming out with a full length mat for the Ridgeline that covers the tailgate with the Z pattern mat too. This would only be for people who use the bed extender full time. Any comments? It would make it a little difficult to access the trunk area because of the length but not impossible.

Thanks,
Tony

I've been thinking of that too - once I get a mat, non Murdock of course. I was thinking that approx 1/2 way across the trunk, place a bar that will fit side to side, with rubber ends. That way it will hold the flapping since the trunk area will be cut. Also, think of some sort of bar to hold lock into the rear tie downs. I need some way to illustrate this -

Also, thinking from a cost perspective 3-4 / 5-6 years down the road the $200 mat is wore out and time for new one – ugg another $200+ bucks. I think I would rather find one of good quaintly for 50-75 bucks, which other forum members has chatted about in here, and quite happy with, (in addition to quick delivery), and when the time comes to replace it, another 50-75 bucks.

Plus the devils advocate side of me comes into play. All I want this mat for something to keep stuff from sliding so much and keep scratches to a minimum. The bed is designed to take a beating. So, do I spend $$ or save a little in the process? This comment is for all manufactures and I’m not picking on Murdock. When I had my Element I was at the same decision point. But, then purchased the RL, 3 weeks later same decision point.

Please check out on 7/30/06 and after...

We're about to switch servers on our site and have it hosted by a secure SSL - at which time I'm going to post a coupon code or discount code for all members of the Ridgeline Owners Club. The software is more powerful than the existing software. If you can... hold off on ordering the Ridgeline Elemmat or trunk set until this weekend (7/30/06) and I will post the code on this thread. The code will give additional discounts off the pricing on the site!

I hope you all take a look at it too :) I spent a lot of time and energy to give the Ridgeline Equal Billing :) Any comments on the site and the direction after that time is greatly appreciated...

Thanks,
Tony

Eureka! It's alive! www.elemmat.com is now up and running on a secure SSL. I figured out the discount code option and invite all to come take a look at our new site.

The 10% discount for Ridgeline Owners Club members is also entered. Available for all ROC members, at check out, enter ROC10 to receive a 10% discount on your entire order (except shipping.)

Safe driving and thank you!
Tony

PS. There are indeed alternative mats out there, but none that match the performance, aesthetics, or contours of the Ridgeline Elemmat. Additionally, you cannot get a tailgate protector, nor trunk liners from them. The Elemmat was born from my interest in the Ridgeline, and to do it right.

Just ordered the full set from Murdock. Will post a report once received and installed. After what I spent on the truck, I'm not about to skimp on the mat, which will probably receive more wear and tear than just about any other accessory. Dawgs, bikes, furniture, construction materials, etc. I figured I'd give the full set a try because after only 2-weeks the white marks on the factory bed are driving me nuts.

Review on the Murdock stuff will follow.

Darn! I just ordered a full set yesterday and missed this thread with the discount code. Wonder if I can still get the ROC discount?

More expensive, but sure looks like nice quality to me. I probably won't use the tailgate liner, but it only $15 more to get it in the full set. However, it sure looks like a good idea when hauling mulch or brush to keep debris out of the tailgate/bumper area when unloading. Will be easy to sweep the bed out right over the tailgate.

The trunk liner will be nice. I already have scratches in a week from a propane tank and my draw bar.

I'll post back as well when I get my set.
