My 2014 white ridgeline paint is fading horribly. The entire vehicle has some type of paint finish issue. Streaking, faded, minor peeling, you name it. Anybody experiencing these same issues? Are there any paint recalls?

Honda standard paint jobs seem to last about 8 years if they aren’t garaged. Just long enough for most people to not care about it any more and most warranty periods to expire. Thin paint saves them a ton of money in manufacturing cost. Paint is one of the most expensive steps in the process.

The Acura “16 stage” paint that they put on the NSX and high end models would probably last a long time.

My 14 GenI Ridgeline with white paint is looking a bit chalky at this point. I am not seeing streaking or chipping but this chalky surface stains easily. I've noticed it but haven't motivated to do much about it. I figure that some clay bar work and some serious elbow / mechanical buffer grease could make some major improvements and at some point I plan to find out.

I have an 08 that's black, and I always assumed that whoever owned it before me never waxed it or did paint work, because the hood and the roof are both pretty faded. The rest of the truck still looks pretty good.

I can use a dual action polisher to clean it up, but even with sealing it, it returns to the faded look within a month or so. You MAY have better results with the white paint, as it always tends the weather the elements a little bit better (Colorado sun here is not nice to black paint jobs)

My 2014 RTL - Taffeta white, the roof is peeling right above the windshield and there are other spots on the roof, trim piece area and center of the roof that's peeling as well. I didn't notice when I bought it a few months back that it appears the PO may have had certain panels repainted already. I have a quote $1500 to redo the roof, take it down to bare metal, prime and repaint. I've already invested a lot in maintenance on this Ridgeline and do like the truck, but I am struggling on whether to keep it or not as I don't want to be dishing out $1500 each time a panel starts to peel. Very disappointed in Honda, although I hear other manufacturers have similar issues, especially with white paint.
