Hello, my 2024 Ridgeline auto high beams seem to not turn off always when it recognizes on coming cars with their lights on. My 2024 HRV auto high beam work perfectly and enjoy the convenience of this feature as I always travel in the dark. Anyone experiencing this issue?

The 2024 Ridgeline auto high beams are dangerous and should be turned off.

My 2021's were terrible as well.

My 2017 had very good auto high beams but then a programming intern at Honda changed the system just before he went back to school to grow his student loan debt.

The auto high beams on my 2022 Ridgeline are really bad, and they are not really usable (and yes, I've read the owners manual). They are even worse than the adaptive cruise control, and roughly on a par with the wireless phone charger and collision mitigation. I have driven other vehicles with auto high beams, so I know that there are good systems out there.... just not in my Ridgeline.

I tried to turn mine on last night on a drive home ideal for auto high beams. I need to review the manual. Unlike many on here my adaptive cruise control seems to work fairly well. I recently adjusted the following distance down and it caused some concern in mild traffic. It got a pretty good workout including the idiot swinging right in front of me crossing 3 lanes of traffic to get to the exit. My wireless charger seems to be wireless charging ok too. It's too early to tell but so far so good.

The Ridgeline is known for listing "features/technology" at Honda's website, but not every one of them are working. Sometimes, it takes them long to make them work, while other times breaks things that had been working. But hey, it's a nice pickup/SUV, depending on your view...

Honda broke the auto high beam system starting in 2020 and have not fixed it yet. 2017-2019 use a different way to detect oncoming traffic and adjust the high beams. The current system is a safety hazard to use and should be reported to the NHTSA in order to force Honda to fix it or remove it as a option for the Ridgeline

The auto high beams actually worked perfectly on my Nissan Ariya which shocked me at first, because the ones on my 2021/2022 Ridgelines have never worked properly.

Thank you. So there seems to be no fixing it.

I drive on winding country roads with no lights and I think the auto high-beams in my 2022 RTL-E work well. The only times they won't go from high to normal is when me or an approaching car is on a curve and the their lights aren't being picked up by my sensor. Sometimes a large road sign will reflect enough to cause my auto high-beams to go back to normal. As a reminder from page 156 of the owner's manual:

To turn the system on: With the light switch is in AUTO, pull the lever toward you and hold it for at least 30 seconds. After the auto high-beam indicator light blinks once, release the lever.

To turn the system off: With the light switch is in AUTO, pull the lever toward you and hold it for at least 40 seconds. After the auto high-beam indicator light blinks twice, release the lever.

The method Honda chose to turn this feature off/on is terrible from every angle. You have to pull the stalk for what? 45 seconds (seems like an eternity) then wait for a nano second flash on the dash that still leaves you not knowing....Are they off or on now? Then if you see a hazard on the road while they are actively dimming and you "flick" the light you actually deactivate the auto high beams.

Unbelievable that a paid engineer would approve such a trashy on/off system. My Toyota has a simple button for this and it works fabulous

After that rant my 2022 work well when they are actually on...

Thank you. I will give the system another shot. Wonder if there is a calibration Honda could do?

Are you seriously thanking him for confirming the system is flawed???
