I just bought a new 2024 Ridgeline Trailsport and i am told a block heater installed is 500 plus tax .That sounds a little unreasonable to me . Any experiences with a block heater install ?

Ordered as an accessory if you built your own truck, the accessory cost is $92. That is delivered to you uninstalled.

When I purchased my 2024BE, my dealer would have installed it on my new truck for $255.75.

Talk with your dealer about that $500 quote. At the same time go to the Parts department and ask them the cost.

Check other dealers nearby. I have a dealer two miles from my house that routinely charges 50% or more than the Honda dealer ten miles from my house. My "next door neighborhood dealer" where we purchase our Hondas wanted over $2800 to provide and install a Honda transmission cooler on her Passport - and no loaner car. The dealer ten miles away wanted $1200 and provided a loaner car. I've found the old adage "drive a little, save a lot" is quite true in my situation. Also, go to the dealership's website and check for online coupons you can print out that can save you money - but watch out as our "next door neighborhood dealer" requires you to show them the coupon and then they provide a jacked up price that effectively eliminates any savings.

Just FYI from after moving to northern Montana I was doing some research on installing a block heater into our Ridgeline, it appears that probably it really is not all that necessary to warm an engine when using 0W-20 oil. Admittedly, while starting our Ridgeline with temps nearing 40 below last year we encountered no issues. I guess that this is just one more thing for an old dog to understand with newer technology!

On a related note, Before the move I also had purchased an extra set of wheels in preparation for mounting studded now tires. But we quickly realized that our Falken Wildpeak A/T trail tires on our Ridgeline were more than sufficient even with winter time snow and ice. We ultimately sold that extra set of wheels.

. . had Honda Block-Heater installed by dealer last November in RTL I purchased new in April '24 - Parts & Labor (not including taxes) = $287 - had 20%-Off-Installed-Accessories coupon from regional Honda group . . actually paid ~$240 (plus taxes) - - - - when I checked the math - somehow the "Supplies" ~$10 to top off / check coolant did not receive 20% discount - Okay, whatever !?!
