Any Rigdgeline owners out there recommend getting a clear bra for their RL?

I've heard both good and bad things about getting them. Any thoughts, recommendations would be appreciated.

I've got the 3M invisi bra.

Took 'em four tries to get it right on the hood due to odd shapes and some defective film but they told me they wanted to do it again I didn't have to ask.

Black is also not the ideal color for this stuff as it shows every error/misapplication.

Would I recommend it? Yes absolutely. No one knows it's there and with the love bugs I need to deal with in Florida it's worth it's weight in gold.

Did they apply it to all the font painted surfaces? Can it go through a tunnel car wash?

Yep my entire front end is covered.

It's five pieces to cover the grill surround, hood, bumper, and mirror fronts.

I had lots of options to remove pieces but I wanted the entire front end covered.

The hood is what caused all the problems on installation, although they had to redo the bumper as well. 4 times on the hood, 2 times on the bumper.

I basically gave up my truck for two full days.

As far as the 'tunnel' car wash I cannot say.

If I ever go thru a car wash it's touchless and my Ridge has never been washed to date. Other than the factory/dealer wash.

She needs a wash right now but she's black and I'm scared to death of scratching her up doing it the 'wrong' way. I'll spend an inordinate amount of money next weekend buying the equiptment to do it the right way.

Haven't purchased one yet, but a friend bought a clear protection system (bra) from these folks:

http://www.instylegraphics.com

They've also got some decent graphics and striping kits.

I have seen the clear coating on cars here in Maryland, and they look good (basically can't see them at all) but if it was me, I would have a dependable place do the install who gives a lifetime warranty. Don't buy the stuff off e-bay and try it yourself. One downfall however, if you look at the coating through polorized sunglasses, you will see a rainbow effect on the curved surfaces.

I had mine put on but did not get the bumper done - just the hood and the top of the front quarter panels.

I like it a lot. I can tie down my canoe on top without having the plastic one getting in the way. It protects what I need from the stones on back roads (hunting spots) and keeps the bugs off the paint.

Don't use a car wash but don't see a problem - other then what it would do to the unprotected surfaces.

I would recommend it before you get chips though. A lot harder after a couple of stone ships and scratches.

I've used the 3M product on a couple of my cars now...and love the product. Yes, it will survive the carwash, although I usually use a brushless one! My wives Volvo has been through countless carwashes and the stuff looks good even after 5 yrs.

Not sure if anyone has posted this before, but I found this at Ebay ...

Clear Bra for $9.99

It's not something I'm interested in so I don't know the quality or overall value ... but at less than $10 it's hard to go wrong.

I live in Danville California, I just had Matt of Central Coast Clear Bra do the front of my 06 Ridgeline, he uses 3m product, Matt did the hood, frt fender tips, mirror covers, headlights and fog lights as well the the front door edges, it came out beautiful, and Matt is a real pro, very reasonably priced and I highly recommed him and plan on referring him to customers from Dublin Auto Body where I work.
He is mobile and came to my house and did it on a Saturday morning, about 2hours.

If your interested his number is 925-588-5644

Does anyone know if removing this film a year or more later will potentially remove any paint with it? I'm very interested in adding to my Black Ridgeline but need to know that first. Thanks!

It will not harm any properly prepared paint ie factory paint or a good repaint if the installer or yourself does not get hasty during the removal and try to rip it off. Takes time, but can be down with harming your paint.

In most cases teh product will last at least 5 years if not more. I have seen cars with the product that are ten years old and look breand new. The trick/key is the keep them washed and waxed just like you should the rest of the vehicle. The more you take care of your vehicle the nicer it will look.

Teh stuff on ebay isnt all that is made to seem. You get it for that low price for a reason. If I can help answer any clear bra questions let me know. Been doing it for years.

Thought I would share my experience here... Even though it's not a Ridgeline, it's the same process and my installer can also do any Honda.

I decided not to clear bar the HOOD like most.

Why? I didn't want to see that "line". I know it would drive me nuts when waxing, and when dust collects. Plus, my car is a 2002, and no chips really anywhere on the hood anyway - - they all seem happen on the bumper, and lower lip spoiler.

I had the lower lip spoiler done and the full front bumper, and thicker pieces on the headlights. You cannot tell this has the clear bra with this setup unless your eyes are 2 inches from the car, not like others.

Thank you for the replies. Nice pics - and roadster! I've found driving a roadster on a nice twisting road to be one of the best experiences in life!

I think I may order the ebay product and apply it myself to the bumper under the front hood and over the headlights in addition to adding a bug shield- to both the Ridgline and convertible. Sounds to me like the thinner stuff would be easier to apply and offer enough protection, and be less visible to boot.
Does anyone know if the ebay product is available by the square foot/yard so I can order only what I need?
Thanks again.
