Thank you, I ordered my pedal today, so it'll be a while before it gets here. I cut a relief hole for the usb cord in mine, but the connectors for the camera and comma are just not allowing it to latch shut.

So, I installed the pedal and have been so busy with work I have not gotten around to installing a spork. Well, today I was driving and held down the cruise show button, expecting it to stop At 25mph, it didn't. The truck says it's unable to use cruise because it's below 25mph, but the pedal just works, down to 0mph, no additional programming.

Same here, stock OP, the CP works, however for me the antilock brake pump makes a lot of noise that bugged me, so it’s disconnected for now. In installed Shane’s and sunny forks however had multiple fan malfunction messages. Comma.ai said to run the stock OP and see if the fan malfunction happens again, so far nope.

I think I know the noise you are talking about...I hear it when cruise is slowing on upcoming traffic. That is annoying indeed.

We don't have the electric braking system that tesla has, so that noise is the same way the truck slows down for adaptive cruise, it's firing the abs pump.

Hey guys, Is anyone running the 0.8.16 release2 on Mr.One's hardware? (2018 Pilot)
I am entertaining the idea of getting a pedal. wonder how well the pedal works at the moment.
thanks.

The noise doesn't bother me as much as how late OP starts to apply it. I'm not sure pulsing of the ABS pump can achieve the same effect as slamming on the brake when needed.

I'm happy I found this thread, I was about to order from Comma.ai but saw folks mentioned Openpilot kit for HONDA NIDEC from aliexpress. The product doesn't seem to be available on aliexpress anymore. Is there any other vendor for it or is it best to just bit the bullet and get Comma.ai? I will definitely be installing the pedal as well. Those of you running it, what's the best source to get more info on it. I understand Comma.ai is shipped blank.

I am running a comma 3x from comma.ai with a pedal and splitter I got from BearTechWorkshop on etsy. I installed the parts on a 2020 RTL-E. I am very happy with how it is working. I had experience with the comma 3x in a Subaru and loved it So I got another one. The Honda does not take as sharp curves as the Subaru however i got nearly as good results when runny sunnypilot with dev-c3 branch or frogpilot main branch. In each of those versions of the software I think the key to great turns is enabling the NNFF toggle In the controls section - selecting the lateral tuning toggle and NNFF . Other users may get different results but this is working great for me. Stock openpilot steering felt kind of sqishy. The software I am using right now is the latest version of frogpilot with NNFF enabled which is very solid.

Yes, it does.

This is the sub 300 dollar version of it. I just used it to drive 1300 miles over July 4th weekend...

for both the C3 and the cheaper one, to have the car control braking down to 0mph and back up, you will need two things.

This splitter.

and this "pedal"

The pedal device gives the software running on the phone device direct access to your gas pedal...I am not exactly sure what the standard access is...HOWEVER IMO you absolutely need to go the extra mile and get these other two addons. Without them the Ridgeline uses engine braking to try and keep your speed right where you have set it. This turns into a very jerky back and fourth ride. The pedal eliminates that.

When you do get this pedal, you then will need some custom software to run things correctly... just reply here if you go with this and I'll send over what I use.. there are many other options as well.

One more note: My 22 ridgeline had a "Noisy" brake pedal, which meant a tiny change needed to be made to the code.. if you're is doing something screwy, it may just need a little adjustment!
RTL............I know this is a older post but was wandering about the "noisy brake pedal". I have the same problem.....could you go into some detail as to how you fixed it ? How you made a change to the code . THX.

Any chance you can share any updates on your experience with this? I just ordered my comma.ai and am trying to absorb as much info on this as possible.... It's a lot to take in and info is sort of scattered. Are you still using frogpilot?

I run Frogpilot or Sunnypilot with dev-c3 branch. Right now I am using Sunnypilot. Enter bit.ly/dev-c3 for a sunny-pilot install. Both Sunnypilot and Frogpilot give me nearly identical results assuming the same driving model is chosen and NNFF is selected. It only takes a few minutes to wipe an install and choose another. Sunnypilot has the edge right now for me. I use the pedal and splitter from Beartechworkshop. I would personally not consider using a comma without a pedal in the Ridgeline. make sure to enable NNFF in the controls section. I have a comma in a Honda , Subaru and Hyundai. The Hyundai is by far the best driving experience negotiating even very tight curves, Subaru next and the Honda ridgeline only managing gentle curves you typically find on interstates. Once to figure out what the Ridgeline can handle it becomes second nature when to hold the wheel so I usually keep my fingers touching the wheel with my left hand on my lap unless I am on interstate where assistance is rarely needed.

That's exactly what I was hoping to hear. I don't mind being cautious going around sharper corners, I'd probably still keep my hand near the wheel even if it was a totally flawless self-driving system. Honda's stock system is pretty disappointing otherwise and gives me 0 confidence since it will start taking a turn on it's own and then will let go randomly halfway around a bend.

I did get the pedal and splitter from that bear fella on Etsy as well. Were you able to use any cat5 Ethernet cable? I'm hoping to have everything ready to go as soon as the comma arrives, without having to wait on any extra bits. I believe I'll still need about 6ft of Ethernet from the pedal area to the comma, and maybe a foot from the pedal to the splitter?

I agree with Dean — I love my Comma!

It’s funny you ask, I bought all different lengths of cable (Amazon Basics) and they worked great… I can’t remember exactly which length went where… Let us know how you make-out… Cheers

Where did you find the NNFF? I see NNLC but that option is grayed out, I can't toggle it (on Sunnypilot dev-c3)

Edit: nevermind, the car had to be off and that let me toggle the switch. It said something about how it would run a check to see if the car was supported upon startup (which it was!)
