What should I be aware of? Do these things have the same paint issues that plague some other models like the Odyssey? If you're not familiar, some colors are known to literally start peeling paint with little effort, particularly on the roof. Wife had an '08 Odyssey that we had to have the windshiled replaced on. Safelite guy placed tape over the top corners of the windshield after finishing and said leave them for 24 hours. When I peeled them off, the paint just pulled right off the roof with the tape. Looked it up and apparently this was a known thing and just continued to get worse on ours. I sold it soon after, but don't want to end up with the same thing on a Ridgeline. I'm looking at this as a third vehicle for me and would soon hand off to my 13-year-old son. Won't put much mileage on it before then. It was used up north, so only real concern for me out of the gate is rust. Anything else I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance!

I've have no issues with paint peeling from the truck other than from the side mirrors - and that was after driving through a torrential downpour in Arizona and Texas at 80 mph. I plan on repainting those soon.

What color are you looking at by the way?

I just went through the same buying process, 125k on my '11 RTL. Check and see when timing belt and water pump we're done and what parts were used to do them. If the owner doesn't have any paperwork or there isn't a sticker, I'm pretty sure your local Honda dealer can tell you if the maintenance minder has been reset for this service (others chime in and correct me if I'm wrong.)

Other then that, maybe ask if the radiator was ever replaced, and if not, check the transmission lines that run to the cooler that is internal to the cars radiator. If those fittings break, it's a bad day. (SMOD).

My silver 2007 rusted over the rear wheels. The clearcoat peeled off the hood and a fender. The seats - dark gray cloth - stained easily, even from clear water.

And other than that.....nothing! Owned it from 2011 (bought w/40k miles) until about a year ago (160k miles) when I sold it to my son in law....and it's still whizzing along. He replaced a few worn bushings in the front end and added an aftermarket stereo, but - knock on wood for his sake - still a great machine.

Be sure to check for excessive rust underneath the vehicle that may be problematic down the road. It probably depends in which area of the country it has resided as to how much rust will be present.

It's been in New York, so salted roads would be a concern. He is supposed to get me some pics. He said there was no body rust and no rot. I noticed the prop-rod under the hood was a bit rusted. as was one of the brackets of the radiator, so not really sure what to expect. Those are two things that could be easily addressed.
