hi guys my name is paul this is my first tread:)

so i was looking in to getting a doublle din hu installed in my ridge and went to my local car audio shop. i got there only to find out that there are going out of business, but thay still had alot of head units they they were trying to get rid of so they offered me a alpine ina-w900 witch is a $800 doller head unit for $600 bucks witch i think is a good deal.

well they had to let go there installer and didnt have one there at the time so they told me they will call me today and let me know if they get a installer that could install it for me well they call me back today and tell me that they cant install it and that they will give me everything i need ie. wiring harnes double din kit. for free!!

so my question is how hard is to do a good install i have installed hu in all my other cars in the past but i am a lil nervus about doing it to the ridgleline becouse shes my baby so what do u guys thing how hard is getting the dash off to? and what other problems should i be looking for?

thanks in advance

If you have replaced a radio before and are comfortable with doing it, I think you are better off doing it yourself. Some places don't even bother to install the vehicle specific connector when installing the radio, they just snip the wires from the connection that goes to the old factory radio and give you crappy connections, which leaves the wires short and leaves very little play. Add to the fact that, as you said, the place will be going out of business soon, so if you do have a problem down the road, you are s*%$ out of luck. If you go to crutchfield you can get the mounting bracket and the vehicle specific connectors for under $50. If you do a search, you will also find that some people have painted there brackets to look just like their interior so it blends right in. Since it is your baby, why leave it in the hands of someone you don't even know? :act024::act024::act024::act024:
