Picked up my new 2019 RTL-E recently and noticed the Dealer prep dude messed up the front bumper for the license plate. Put in an extra pilot hole and the frame is crooked. See pics. Salesperson isn’t responding to my follow ups. Any suggestions? Is this a battle worth picking with the dealer?

Poor design by Honda. It's better to have a bracket from the factory and not use it, than have to poke holes in the bumper with a screw.

Personally, I'd level up with a new hole, fill in the old hole with some Bondo or epoxy and call it a day. You don't want a dealer handling anything where they'd cause MORE problems than you have.

It's plastic, so no rust issues. The G1 had fixed mounting holes with body color caps for non-front plate States. A better design but also overkill.

Thx - the moral of the story is don’t assume. Don’t let some 17 yr old high school co-op student in the service area who still likes watching Bob the Builder reruns play roto rooter with the front bumper on a new $40k+ truck (or other accessories requiring more than a 9 volt of power tool juice.) Shoulda requested to install myself.

I bought a new 93 stealth and the sales guy put the front plate on.I didn't check it when i left and when i got back to work i looked at the plate and i nearly crapped myself, there was two holes over the plate screws where he ran the screwdriver through the front bumper.I went back to the dealership and the dealer is denying that they did it (shocked) LOL.After a couple of minutes the sales guy comes clean and says he did it and the manager says your lucky he admitted it.They fixed it but refused to give me a loaner,That was the worst dealer i ever dealt with.It was Star Chrysler Dodge in Abilene TX.
Never let anyone put your plates on your vehicle.

Good news - I had leverage since I had not completed the Honda corporate survey on the dealership purchase experience. They replaced the bumper with another new one on the lot. Some unsuspecting buyer will be the beneficiary of my Swiss Cheese bumper;) #drillbabydrill

@Bill_R, the issue was securing the actual plate holder (#11) to the bumper. Unlike the G1, the G2 does not come with pop out tabs that receive the front license plate bracket. The error happened when they were manually drilling a hole to place the front plate bracket (#11) on.

@smufguy, I missed that part about mounting the bracket. Not sure I’d want that dealer’s service department to work on anything of mine. I previously had a 4 runner and they just drilled 2 holes in the front bumper, put the screws in the tag and tightened them down. Didn’t realize it till about a year later when I was changing the tags :surprise: I wasn’t a happy camper about that. Thanks for the clarification. My bad.
